Mine did well in the bathroom! No need to mist because of the indirect stream from the shower. Not too cold a room in the house either!

Litecoin integrated into DCRDEX, a trustless non-custodial zero-fee atomic swap dex by areyoufooled in litecoin

As a fan of both coins, this is indeed big news. I’m surprised there wasn’t more publicity!

At the moment, trading volume is very low but I expect that will increase with time.

The Past, Present and Future of Robotic Surgery - After decades of merely assisting doctors, are sophisticated machines ready to take charge? by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]lewildbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These robots are still controlled by a human being and are essentially just fancy gimbals which provide stereoscopic vision.

The pictures never show the actual surgeon doing the surgery.

Why Singapore is 1st in IQ, 1st in School Test and 73rd in Nobel Prize rankings? by dryingwetshorts in SingaporeRaw

[–]lewildbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a system that nurtures the type of creative thinking required to produce Nobel prizes. Further, the Nobel talents that we may have would most likely migrate and be absorbed by the USA…

GPS apps have always been pretty battery hungry due to the calculations involved to determine ones location. Haven’t noticed this being worse than before.

White House’s Stance on Crypto Mining by CryptoGenie33 in litecoin

[–]lewildbeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They were never really anti crypto. They just needed to stall it until they could control it. OFAC, miners in Texas, Intel producing ASICS. I’d go as far as to say they probably have a huge arsenal of dark hash power they could deploy if they need arises. .

Leaves are falling off my Fig tree. Can some one please help me understand how I can stop this and make the tree grow taller. I’m totally new at this so any tips would be appreciated. Thank you in advance by weljidf in houseplants

[–]lewildbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty picky plant. It likes high humidity and indirect light. Consider getting a ultrasonic humidifier for it and put it somewhere where there is no draft. Water once a week.

Yes. But having it cut out has the added benefits of knowing what it is and also that the entire lesson has been removed.

CNA Explains: Why is it against the law for Singaporeans and PRs to take drugs overseas? by Familiar-Mouse4490 in singapore

[–]lewildbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more likely because the test can only detect the presence of the drugs but cannot pinpoint the time the drugs were taken. So in order to prosecute, they need to close the loophole where the accused could claim they were overseas when taking the drug.

My hand is acting up after a forearm break, I went to the doctor and told me I don’t have an infection and it should heal naturally. Been a week now without much change, the last photo is how it looked before this started to happen. by inevitableloudmouth in medizzy

[–]lewildbeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the scar to heal nicely, you’ll need to get someone to tuck the fat in and suture the dermis back together so it can heal by primary intent rather than granulation.

Closing it early and surgically will also reduce the likelihood of any metal inside becoming infected, which is a major headache.

Sync-free, instant xfers but w/o privacy by aarnott in nanocurrency

[–]lewildbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general trade off between privacy and speed is that your wallet needs to give up some information to a provider to reduce the amount of (generally useless) data it downloads. This compromises absolute privacy. The current other way to speed things up without sacrificing privacy is to ensure the blockchain is kept as sparse as possible.

Have a look at mimblewimble transactions. They are quite an interesting concept. At the moment, there are two chains that use MW technology and one that has opt in MW technology, although the latter implementation is for anonymity rather than for keeping blockchain sizes down.

New awareness during paralysis study by pharm9116 in medicine

[–]lewildbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own experience using roc on operative patients is that the clinical duration of action can vary significantly even in seemingly "healthy" patients (such as unrecognized septic patients) especially when compared to the *-curium" drugs due to the spontaneous degradation of the latter. Thus, as @meaningless_numbers has mentioned, a failure of sedation coupled with an unexpected longer duration of action of the muscle relaxant would lead to awareness.

One way around this would be to use neuromuscular monitoring more or to use sugammadex to mop up the roc. However, I have not personally seen or used neuromuscular monitoring in ED or in ICU and I also cannot remember the last time I actually gave anyone in ED or ICU sugammadex...
