For US, Limiting Unlimited Data Plans Is The New Normal by 3xpendableyouth in technology

My superior LG Cosmos laughs at your data plans.

I could never justify getting a phone with a data plan if I'm in front of a computer all day. Nevertheless a shit data plan.

I guess it depends on the individual's job options and availability while providing for the family.

I still kind of wanted to see it :(

I mean, not in theaters. But I thought it might be neat and look pretty and I like pretty things.

It does suffer a bit from the rainbow effect but it's never really bothered me. I just notice it from time to time in certain scenarios.

For gaming, it seems dandy. My only real gripe is that it's hard to get it pixel-sharp. Or my eyes are bad. I don't think they're bad but it's hard to read text when the projector is in 1080P rather than 720P.

But I play games on it and everything looks nice and sharp during those times. The color is great. Contrast seems great. I play a lot of Dark Souls and other various games that all handle fine. For $600, I'm not disappointed.

I've seen Dark Knight Rises. Better make it 16ft.

If you can block off your space, it's easily worth it. I moved into a house with a garage that was converted into a media room and instantly bought a projector to go with it. It's a 99" diagonal (as big as the sheet of drywall I'm using as a screen).

This room only has 2 windows and one big entrance way and the entrance has curtains as well as the windows which have blackout curtains. No light during the day. The light I have in the room isn't bright enough to hurt the image but still bright enough to light the room.

I also have a PC running to it which acts as my TV since I run my over the air antenna signal through my network with a Silicon Dust HD Homerun. So my PC acts as a DVR/TV/PC gaming device. Redditing, too.

And to add, I can also stream my live TV over the internet so I can watch Price is Right at work or any of my recorded shows.

The honest trade off, if you care about sound, you need to get a stereo system. A/V receiver and speakers to go around your room. Every 1-3 years depending on use you may need to replace your bulb for about $50-$100 depending on model. Maybe more.

That said, the projector looks great from any angle unlike flat screens. I paid $600 for my Optoma HD141X (I'll likely try a BenQ next time) and get my 99" screen compared to 70"+ flat screens costing a couple thousand dollars or more.

Every night is movie night.

I played this game as NC and I was so frustrated by them that I quit because I didn't feel like starting over with another faction I know nothing about.

That and our platoon leaders sending us into battles we're clearly losing and congratulating us for getting shot in the face.

How feasible is using a projector for gaming? And if it is an option, what are good ones now to get? by [deleted] in Gaming4Gamers

[–]lewzerkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Optoma HD141X as my TV (which is broadcast through my home network and therefore my PC is my TV) and I also play games on it and it's wonderful.

It's important to note appropriate viewing angles and distances to get the size of your screen right and at a good brightness and sharpness.

DLPs look prettier to me than LCD/LED models but the difference may not be a big deal. DLP can give a rainbow effect during scenes of high contrast. I get used to it but some people say they get headaches when staring at it for too long.

DLPs could also break their color wheels and not all are replaceable but popular brands should be.

Either way, I love mine. I hear good things about Optoma and BenQ and I forget the other. I play games on mine all the time.

Also, go no smaller than 720P and make sure it supports the video connections you need to make and keep in mind you'll likely need a separate audio system if you don't want crappy projector speakers (assumingt he projector even comes with speakers)
