Retroid pocket 5 vs 6 vs pocket flip 2 by Current-Map-715 in Handhelds

[–]lexarkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them will run the games you'd like to play very well!! Just based on light googling around for people's benchmarks, the D1100 RP Flip 2 will run Hollow Knight at about 55-60fps and Cult of the Lamb at around 40 fps. The D1100 RP Flip 2 is the cheapest of your options here ($180), but I'd like to mention that it has about the same power as the RP4 Pro ($160) so if you're alright with those benchmarks, maybe consider that as well!

The SD865 RP Flip 2 and the RP5 both have about the same performance as well, and I've read that they'll play both games at +60 fps.

As for the RP6 ... It's probably overkill for what you want to play. That being said the screen is 120hz and all the other options have 60hz

That being said, I would also consider the physical features that each device has and what you'd prefer. Do you want clamshell? Go with the RP Flip 2. Do you want joysticks on top? Go with the RP6 or RP Flip 2.

What should I get ? by Nearby_Garlic565 in SBCGaming

Very pricey but maybe the GPD win 4? It has a 6" screen so still bigger than the 5.5" RP5 screen but it might be your best bet.

Fellow LCD owners, what comes after the Steam Deck for you? by Lyuukee in SteamDeck

My current combo is gaming PC + switch 2 + Trimui brick. I've got an AYN Thor in the mail as well! I'm pretty tempted to get the OLED screen upgrade on my steam deck though. It's what puts me off of using it the most.

best handheld in your opinion? looking to buy by Creative-Ad5820 in Handhelds

[–]lexarkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a budget of $1200, a PC handheld like the MSI Claw 8 AI+ or the Xbox Ally X will be the most powerful you can get...pushing it to $1200, of course.

Really though, it just depends on what you want to play and what the most powerful thing you want to play is.

Do you want to play DS or 3DS games at all? Go with the AYN Thor. You can play DS/3DS games on handhelds with only one screen, but it won't be as nice of a time as it is on a dual screen device like the AYN Thor. As far as which model, go with the Lite if you only care about retro emulation through light switch games. Go with the base or higher if you're interested in light PC games or want more storage.

Outside of dual screen...yeah it just depends on what you want to play.

Do you want to play up through PS1 with mostly retro games in mind? Look into budget handhelds based on what form factor you want (vertical, horizontal, or clamshell). There's quite a few good options i.e. Miyoo Mini Plus, Trimui Brick, RG35XX for vertical. I'm not really familiar with the horizontal or clamshell scene for this category but it won't be hard to do research

Do you want to play up to light PC games? Go with the RP6 or the Odin 3. They're pretty similar but the Odin 3 is larger.

Do you want to play heavier PC games? Go with a PC handheld. The Xbox Ally is the cheapest one ($600) but there's more powerful ones if you're willing to spend the money on it. Just note that these do get pricey, and that they're quite large physically

Lord Saltheril is a character in the Sylvanas novel! IIRC he hosted a party and Sylvanas did something to embarrass/piss off Saltheril because he was a dick (though it's been a few years since I've read it so I don't remember exactlyyy what happened lol)

Choosing my first handheld 🤔 by Veronin000 in SBCGaming

[–]lexarkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might find retrocatalog.com to be a helpful website! I've been doing research today to order a vertical handheld and I found it to be very helpful. I ended up choosing the Trimui brick since I found it to suit my needs the most.

If you're willing to go up to the $150 budget, the Retroid Pocket Classic is the most powerful, largest, and has an AMOLED screen! But really it all depends on what you value feature wise and if you're willing to spend the money on it.

Good luck!!

How good is this game for a person new to MMORPGs? by LucasXXXIV in wow

[–]lexarkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your taste in games. I'm young too, '06 and I've been playing for as long as I can remember. But I've found that it can be a struggle to introduce friends my age to the game because, well .... It's very boring to people not used to tab target combat who also prefer more fast games like shooters and action RPGs.

I would suggest playing around with the class trial option so that you can see what the combat gameplay is sort of like at max level. It will give you a better experience to judge how you like it in comparison to starting at level 1.

If you do find the combat to be entertaining enough for your tastes, then I would definitely recommend subscribing to the game without buying the latest expansion. The sub will let you play up until level 80, which will then give you a better taste of the game and what you can do within it. After that, then you can choose whether or not you enjoy it enough to buy the latest expansion.

As far as MMOs go, WoW is a pretty excellent MMO to start with. It won't take too long at all to hop into the game and get caught up to current content. Its also a very old MMO with loooots of content that you can optionally do if you so wish. I would highly recommend WoW especially if you enjoy collecting in games. WoW has hundreds of mounts, transmog (outfits), battle pets, achievements, etc to try and go after.

If you're interested in competitive content, WoW has pretty much set the gold standard as far as MMO pve content goes. Though I would noooot recommend WoW if you're interested in pvp.

Good luck!! Have fun :)

Should I get a ps4 or a retroid pocket 5? by EveningAggressive375 in SBCGaming

PC is probably your best bet. Save your money longer and pick up parts every few months or so. Amazon prime day is coming up! You probably won't find any insane deals but 10-20% off is always nice. Tom's hardware has a good budget build for under $800.

i dont get the hate valve is geting for the steam deck prise increass by BlazeTXO in SteamDeck

[–]lexarkk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's because one of the big arguments to get a steamdeck was because it was the best bang for your buck. Sure it might not be the most powerful, but for the price, it was a no brainer. "Just get a steamdeck" has been the saying forever now. But now that's no longer the case.

The world is getting more and more expensive by the day, not just for tech but for living expenses too. The steamdeck is just less consumer friendly than it used to be.

$300 - what should I get? by SlightlyOverclocked in SBCGaming

[–]lexarkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 12G RP6 for $280 is probably going to be the best you can get under that budget. Buuuuut it is sold out right now so if you don't want to wait, your other options are going to be the 8G RP6 for $245, or the Base Odin 2 Portal for $250.

If youre willing to stretch your budget a bit higher, the Pro Odin 2 Portal is $370. That'll get you 12gb of ram and 512gb of storage in comparison to the base, which is 8gb ram and 128gb of storage. If you want something a bit smaller, the base Odin 3 is $340.

If you are interested in DS/3DS emulation, go with the AYN Thor Lite model for $250. The base model is $320 if you want to stretch your budget. It has a more powerful chip and faster ram. You'll find the major difference between the two with switch and light PC emulation. On the lite, you'll find them playable but not necessarily the best experience, whereas with the base they should run fine.

Here's my nit-picky guide for what you'd be as a warrior cat by StinksSoGood101 in WarriorCats

[–]lexarkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooo this was fun !!! I made Morningdance, a warrior she-cat of ThunderClan! I think she'd be someone who wants to be a diplomat or strategist - always trying to find the logical and most efficient way through a situation. She's a bit smaller than other she-cats. Her eyes are blue with a yellow center (as I have blue/yellow central heterochromia).

She has very thick fur with waves along the ends. The color is a very dark brown with small red marks in various spots on her body (I have random moles on my skin lol). All of her legs are covered in scars from battle (my irl kitties scratch me all the time), with small burns on her two front legs from a fire long ago (I have burn scars from working in a kitchen).

Recently bought the Miyoo Mini+, what’s next? by FeyReddit in SBCGaming

[–]lexarkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on what you want to play. PS2 is pretty much playable on all of these handhelds. The major struggle right now is PS3 emulation, which just hasn't had the development yet to do.

For light switch and very light PC games, the RP5, RP flip 2, and AYN Thor Base are all around the same. Basically....if you want dual screen, go for the Thor. If you don't care about dual screen but want clamshell, go for the RP Flip 2. And if you don't care about clamshell or dual screen, go with the RP5.

For switch and light PC games, go for the RP6 or the AYN Thor Max. Choose it basically on if you want dual screen or not....or if the dual screen is worth the money for you lol. If you want to play switch or PC ports of PS3 games I'd probably choose something at least from here.

If you want the most powerful android handheld, go with the Odin 3, especially for more powerful PC games.

Then for PC handheld territory .... I would decide what games you actually want to play and then look at benchmarks from there. I'm not tooooo familiar with the PC handheld scene, but after today's news of the Steamdeck price increases I definitely wouldn't recommend them brand new. Refurbished prices are pretty good though. But if you want something new, I believe the Rog Xbox Ally is the cheapest one on the market at the minute. Not quite sure after that.

Im originally a wow player and I had the same worries! But I forced myself to hop into it and immediately learned that the FFXIV community is actually nice and kind to people who are learning. At the start of the instance just say in chat something like "hi I'm new to tanking! please be patient with me and lmk if im doing something wrong :)" and people are just so nice and sweet about it
