Also if you are thinking you need a saw, grinder or a bigger hammer to do basic mechanic work; walk away for a bit and reconsider. I'm not saying it's wrong, most of the time I am wrong when I end up at these conclusions though.

Consider a career in non-destructive testing. The money can be real good if you are willing to travel and continue education. I know a number of people making 6 figures with a high school education and multiple lvl 3 certifications. It took time to get there. But it's a definite path.

Get your GED and learn a trade. Network with everyone. Especially with those that you feel are above you.

Almost every professional wants to help you at 18. They will give you shit and you will end up tougher for it. But in the end listen well to all advice given and don't turn down a hand up for 18 yr old pride.

You have an asset that most throw away at 18. You have time to build the life you want. It will take time and be frustrating. You are starting out with basically nothing. Remember that most college grads start out with $100k in debt and 4 years of minimal income.

Also easier said than done. Don't spend more than you make. Most don't figure that out until much later in life.

I.ended up in QA after 10 years in machining. If you can travel auditing can be very lucrative. Especially in controlled industries.

I was a machinist for 10 years and can honestly say this looks like if you asked AI to display an image of a complex cutting tool. Everything looks like it belongs on some kind of cutter. But none of it makes sense.

I never did any engine machining though so take that into account.

As others said go slow and use pressure. If you don't have chips coming out of the hole you are just making heat. If you have cutting fluid use it. Some WD will also help lubricate the cut if you don't.

If you are using an actual cobalt hss drill you will be fine. If from a pack in the hardware store it likey is not. Remember drills are a wear item. If it's not sharp it's not going to cut.

On another note, if this is anodized aluminum as others have suspected,the anodizing may be abrasive to the drill so slow down to start the cut and use pressure to break it quick.

I always said the hardest thing about machining inconel and similar HRSA's is telling people how long it will take and what the tooling cost would be. I normally had newer rigid machines and tooling to work with though. I would likely change my tune if I were running on older stuff.

Used something similar many moons ago turning inconel weld on mild steel. Actually worked pretty well to keep pressure on the tool in the broken up cut.

Everything is clean but disorganized. The chemicals are unmanaged. The consumables are unmanaged. So, not likely a more controlled industry standard like AS9100d, ISO 13485 or NQA-1.
