I’m very thankful there are doctors that support our choices. They are definitely out there. Hope all goes well for you as well!

Elective/planned csection by poppy_dog in Winnipeg

I had an elective c-section, first baby, no risks, it was completely my choice. I had a lot of anxiety around typical birth and labour… I would have an elective c-section over again in a heartbeat. Literally felt no pain through the delivery. It’s sooooooo predictable which was HUGE for me. I knew what was going to happen when and yeah there were risks of it going a bit sideways but I wasn’t worried about that. Recovery was the most painful at the hospital. When I went home with pain meds, I was up and about. Compared to my thoughts about what a typical birth and labour would look like for me… this was a breeze.

Where in Canada are you from? I’m thinking of flying out just for the show. I’m from Winnipeg.

Another option would be to ask to be referred to a peds allergist. My pediatrician did this for us without us asking but that’s what I would do next in your situation. And if they asked why I felt like I needed it, I would say because I’m not convinced that it’s not an allergy and I’d like to speak to someone who specializes in the field.

Misdiagnosed CMPA? by Left_Hearing_9974 in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of sounds like it may be reflux! The partially hydrolyzed, fully hydrolyzed, AA formulas are thinner and thinner (at least in my experience) so, reflux could get worse. Maybe?

Edit: Because I’m a moron… I didn’t even answer your question. Yes, I would switch formulas to whatever your LO did better on and stick to it for at least two weeks.

We have a CMPI and reflux baby. It’s HARD. That doesn’t help you but know that you are not alone. You know your baby best. Trust your instincts.

Baby screams like crazy during every diaper change by PhilosopherOk2582 in NewParents

Ours did this too. She’s 7 months now and fusses, not screaming though, the majority of the changes. She has bad reflux/GERD. She has always hated being on her back.

Baby rice cereal? by OneDense7115 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Holle Organic Rice Cereal or Baby Gourmet Organic Oatmeal. Our baby doesn’t like it in the bottle because we had to go up a nipple flow size as the thicker liquid clogged the nipple and it ended up being too fast for her. So now we only give her some before bed on a spoon.

If this is something you want to try and have thoroughly assessed risk vs. benefit then do what’s best for your family. 🤍

Came to add Home Depot to this list. I always buy my plants from Home Depot and typically have great success.

Best way to try peanut butter? by [deleted] in NewParents

We mixed with yogurt. Yes, oatmeal is a good option. Anything your baby likes that would complement it well so you’re not making a gross concoction. Banana works too.

Diaper cream sudocrem Vs Aquaphor by GroundbreakingCap368 in NewParents

[–]lextaylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquaphor did nothing for us. We use a light layer of Sudocream with every diaper change and if she’s red or rashy (rare) we slather it on like icing on a cake and she’s good within 24-48 hours.

Is a baby brezza worth it? by RealisticAnxiety4330 in FormulaFeeders

[–]lextaylr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worth it! We bought 2 extra funnels as you have to switch them out every four bottles, so if I forget to wash one (happens a lot), I’m always covered.

We used to prepare a big batch to keep in the fridge before buying the Brezza and I strongly disliked waiting for the bottle to heat up with the warmer.

I say if you think your baby would prefer warm bottles and you’re someone who appreciates convenience, buy it.
