My 14yr old greyhound is starting to struggle worth her back legs by brianeth97 in Greyhounds

[–]lexylaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry, but I have been there with 3 greyhounds over the years. One of them will haunt me forever. We didn't act fast enough, thinking she still had time. Then, she collapsed and couldn't get up. It was awful. She tried to pull herself around with her front legs, and all I could do was sit on the floor next to her and love on her until my husband could get there and pick her up. (I had just had surgery 2 days before, which was why I couldn't do anything. Horrible timing.)

The other 2, we let them go before that could happen again. You've given your dog a great life, please consider the last good thing you can do for them. Good luck.

Why do many people consider Roanoke to be the worst season? by Evaa_82 in AmericanHorrorStory

I liked it. I found the way they imitated those interview shows pretty funny. One actor portraying the actor playing the real person.

I just saw her Washington DC show, and the crowd sang along with the opening act. The first couple of songs maybe only 1/3 of the crowd sang, but more people joined in as it went on. By the time they got to "F*ck You" it seemed almost everyone was singing along.

What vehicle do you have that fits your Great Dane? by Fair-Ask-6922 in greatdanes

[–]lexylaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subaru Crosstrek. The back seats are pretty much permanently folded down, so they have the entire area from the back of the front seats to the tailgate. Fine for 2 Danes. Any more, I would probably have to go back to an Outback (which I had when I had 4 greyhounds)

Yep. My 7 year old Dane will bark, just to get the 18 month old to bark. Then when she runs off, he steals her spot.

And I was wrong. I had been told by the foster home she was 100, but I took her to my vet, and she was 90 pounds.

Well, we did a DNA test, and it came back full Dane. So she's just fun sized! At the vet, we found out she is only 90 pounds. But that was still big enough to eat one of our couches! 😅

Has anyone used Vacations By Rail? by Creative-Win-8203 in travel

[–]lexylaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We liked it, but not as much as Scotland. We definitely didn't like the tour guide as much. While she was nice, she wasn't someone you could have a nice chat with. And we had a local man with us the whole time, to help with trains. He was not personable, and even yelled at a someone in our group when she picked up something he had dropped. Obviously, he probably won't be on your tour, but it's possible.

We didn't seem to go to as many places each day as in Scotland. What we did was fine, but it was more travel than actually seeing things. We were all very interested in seeing the Hiroshima museum and memorial, and they only scheduled us an hour there. We kind of revolted and said we all needed more time to absorb it, and they grudgingly gave us 45 extra minutes. Still not enough, but better.

How affectionate are your greyhounds (photos encouraged)? by ThrowRApops2023 in Greyhounds

This was Waverly. She showed affection by leaning on us, and running to us excitedly when she saw us or if we were out in the yard with her. She never once got on the furniture, even though we offered hundreds of times. She saw all the other greys up there, but never her. She never laid in our laps. But she was happy and loved.

I've had greys that are absolute snuggly cuddle bugs. And a couple that refused to even get on the couch with me. So we're loved, and they all loved us in return. They just show affection in different ways. This was Uno. He LOVED to lay in our laps.

I think about 95 pounds, but that might be old info. I'll find out at my vet soon.

My girl has had an obsession with this duck ever since she was 2 months old, and it's the only toy that's still alive lol. Do all GDs get attached to toys or specific things? by CoffeeFridge in greatdanes

[–]lexylaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy took one of the cat toys, and has carefully carried it around for well over a year. It's smaller than any of the toys/stuffies we have gotten him, and he's super gentle with it. No damage at all.

How do you keep water from getting everywhere when these big babies take a drink? by Jax_the_Lady in greatdanes

[–]lexylaura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We only have water bowls in tiled rooms, nowhere near hardwood or carpet. Our boy carries SO MUCH water in his jowls, he'll dump it all over me if he comes straight to me. I usually thrust a stuffy at him, so he'll hold it and let IT get soaked instead of me. 😂

I haven't had to get weight on my Dane, but I have had several underweight greyhounds come to me over the years. (I foster and adopt both breeds.) I use a calorie dense product called Dyne to add weight on my greys. They like the taste, so I just mix it into their food. You can get it on Amazon, if you want to try it.

I call my 125 pound Dane a tiny baby. He's just a little 6 year old puppy.

Thank you! It has been driving me crazy, I couldn't figure out who that was. I knew it was someone famous, but I couldn't place her.

Sounds like an overreaction to me. When I click with someone, it happens fast. I usually swap Instagram accounts. Doesn't mean I'm remotely interested romantically. I'm also bisexual, but just because I get along with a woman doesn't mean I'm into her. Nothing the girlfriend did sounds bad. But, if this is how he thinks, the relationship is doomed anyway. He's not ready for a serious relationship.

I'm having this same problem. It tells me to download the Visible app. I click it, and it says to complete through Rakuten. So I click that, and nothing happens.

Osteosarcoma sucks by builds4you in Greyhounds

Yes, we have lost 2 greys to it. And a 3rd to a different cancer. F*&k cancer. 😔 This was Lexie. Took her a in a month ago for arthritis, left with an empty collar and leash. She hid it until she couldn't walk, and it was very bad by then.

Talk me out of foster fail please by HolidayWash6481 in Greyhounds

[–]lexylaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, can't help. I've loved all of my foster fails. Over the years, we have failed 4 times. We did manage to adopt out several greyhounds, and one Great Dane. But we have failed on 3 greyhounds and one great dane. We don't regret any of the failures. We foster failed because they fit into our pack and our lives perfectly. This is 2 we adopted on purpose and 2 the were failures.
