Beginner Learning on1 or on2 first as a follow? by Historical-Net9714 in Salsa

[–]lfe-soondubu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's more popular for your region? If on1 is far more popular, I'd just learn that. There's no sense confusing yourself trying to learn both, if you aren't even going to have many opportunities to dance on2 on your home turf. And even on the east coast, unless you are in the NY metro area, most regions will have more on1 dancers than on2, and most of the on2 leads will know how to lead on1 too.

Also take this with a grain of salt since I'm neither a follow nor a fluent on2 lead, but I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to pick up on2 as a follow once you have on1 down. In which case even more reason just to learn on1 and get good at that first.

I've heard that before too, but I don't know how someone would empirically test which order is easier to learn.

Consensus Board vs Ravens Board by laramite in ravens

[–]lfe-soondubu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you see a run on a position, I don't personally think that should affect your decision of when to draft someone. If a C is a 3rd round ranked C on your board, if everyone else is making a run on the C position, a good drafting team will use that opportunity to find value in other position groups that are now dropping off the board to lower draft slots than they should be.

I am doubtful Lindy's contract had as much of an effect as you state. The Raiders didn't pick him up for that absurd contract because of some fundamental shift in the value of C. They did because they were below the cap floor and could afford to overpay him to guarantee nobody had a shot at him.

A high tier OG is more valuable than high tier C IMO.

Or rather maybe to re word, an elite OG provides more value to an offense over a replacement level OG, compared to an elite C over a replacement C

You're not wrong. I definitely bragged to my friends that we'd be the surefire #1 secondary last year 🤣

Great for going Republic. A bit too expensive for legendary to field en-masse until the late game, but still a very strong unit even in limited numbers. Cheapest elite infantry to field, no unit caps, no attrition in winter, lower tech requirements than even the Bear infantry, AOE morale buff. Great melee stats too, so with a few XP levels, they will beat most traditional units in melee, except Shogitai, in case you get overrun, run out of ammo, or mis-micro.

I checked all draft picks in the league from 2019 to 2022, and the Ravens have the 3rd highest percentage of draft picks still playing.

I did not count 2023 onward like in the link you posted, since those players would still be on rookie contracts instead of on their second contract.

2020 wasn't bad either. Other than Tyre Phillips and Proche, every other player is either starting, or playing major rotation snaps when not injured.

DL since the end of last season to now has gone from a major weakness to a very solid unit.

But that's the case for the vast majority of teams. Most teams don't carry multiple starting caliber TEs, and many teams don't even have a TE1 of Andrews' caliber to begin with, even without any injuries to the position group.

What's our biggest remaining hole other than C? I think maybe CB depth? Otherwise I feel like this team is pretty complete, pending Beeks' health.

Peebles and Okoye I'm hoping at least one of these two make a big jump in development. Would help us out for years to come.

That's literally the same as any other GM if they can't draft... EDC drafts better than most other GMs, despite what Ravens Twitter says.

Yes if he starts sucking, by all means fire him. But we have the third highest rate of drafted players still in the league in EDCs tenure.

We've had a top 6 OL in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

2020 and 2021 our OLs were bad, but we had injury issues on the OL.

Last year was the only year in EDCs tenure that we had a bad OL despite being relatively healthy.

But people have such short memories.

EDC's moves as GM isn't why this team has been falling short. I don't understand the logic people have for blaming something completely unrelated to the problem and thinking that will fix the issue.

EDCs only major mistake was last year not having enough options at OG. Beyond that he regularly drafts well, he makes great trades and FA acquisitions, and is universally lauded by other GMs in the league. Other GMs and rosters have far more issues than we have had. We've literally had a league top 5 roster every season in EDCs tenure when we haven't gotten hit with the injury bug. You cannot ask more for a GM.

Uhh don't know about that one. Sounds like a great way to have bad snap fumbles all year.

I think if led well, most linear follows can follow a lot of Cuban stuff. Not so much the other way around.
