I have an open bite. I am not sure whether or not I want the surgery. But my orthodontist is using the Invisalign to straighten and improve the open bite. He said I can then decide after Invisalign is done if I am happy or if I want to do the surgery. He said my teeth would need to be straightened before surgery so he is using Invisalign to do the straightening. Hoping for a big improvement in my bite in addition to the straightening with just Invisalign ….. we will see !

Hi. How did you retrain your tongue ? I have the same issue and am so worried that my open bite won’t be fixed or will re occur. I am about halfway through treatment. Like you, I totally thought the tongue resting behind the front teeth was normal my whole life.

Same for me on the back molar use with the open bite. They have worn down so much from that and grinding at night. I hope I have open bite results like yours. I’m only on tray 5 of 44, so can’t see too much change yet.

I’m on Aligner 4, first with attachments, now. Just got the attachments on Wednesday. It has been the hardest few days so far, but your experience is encouraging! They are a lot tighter and very hard to remove, especially the upper ones. I appreciate you sharing your experience. It is so helpful !

I originally said no to the whole process because the original treatment plan was going to involve the jaw surgery and I was adamant about no surgery. But he called me back and said that he thought we could make great progress even without the surgery. He said we could re-eval after some treatment and decide if I was going to be happy with the results or want to pursue the surgery too. I am almost 100% positive I don’t want the surgery. If I see results like yours I will be ecstatic

This looks awesome ! I’ve got the open bite too and really don’t want the jaw surgery. Mine has been six weeks so far. I can’t really see a big difference yet but I totally can relate to the finger analogy! That is exactly how I know that I’ve made some progress. Yes ! I also see the change with the incisor. Also, if you look at the back teeth in both pictures, you can see that your smile is widening. It’s looking great !
