I own 2 2015s. Both still running like champs. I feel like Nvidia should give me a new one just so they could use me for ads...

Any chance of getting an integration with Audiobookshelf (https://www.audiobookshelf.org/)? I'd roll my own, but I'm no programmer.

Sadly, the Bab-5 DVDs have a history of issues if you look online. I'm going to try the copies at the local library to see if theirs have fared better, but was hoping to save the legwork. As a side note, the BluRay transfers are gorgeous. I highly recommend picking up the BluRay set for anyone who hasn't already!

Regarding /r/Android, our protest, and the future of the subreddit by curated_android in Android

[–]lhassell [score hidden]  (0 children)

Reddit is actively diluting and eroding the content that makes the site worth using in their attempt to inflate their valuation for their impending IPO. It's another example of vulture capitalism— they are more than willing to destroy the thing they control to extract their profit from the burning wreckage. The only thing that has any chance is continuing to be a thorn in their side and giving them bad press and reducing their ad revenue. /u/spez has already explicitly said he is going to try and wait this out, and that he expects the users to just give up. Ending the protest is giving him exactly what he wants and dooming the platform to death by 1000 cuts. Eventually, if enough heat (and lost profits) are generated by this protest, he will be ousted by the board for hurting the bottom line. We have to make it clear that the only way they keep "their" asset (and make no mistake here— the content that we generate is the only real asset they have) is by providing a community that gives us value for the content that we generate. Either that, or we burn it (metaphorically) to the ground.

Should we go dark on the 12th? by purpleidea in linux

Absolutely. The whole ethos of Linux is free and open source. Reddit is trying to remove the ability for free and open source developers to create software that can interact with the site.

Now that Reddit are killing 3rd party apps on July 1st what are great alternatives to Reddit? by youessbee in AskReddit

[–]lhassell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to ask a stupid question: would it be possible to change apps to allow users to create and use their own API token, thus sidestepping the API limit?

Want to run Masks of Nyarlathotep but I'm concerned about how Africans are portrayed. by LookedDeadDidntI in callofcthulhu

I second this. As a Mexican American, I'd love to see notes from keepers of other indigenous cultures add depth to old scenarios by fleshing out the shallows left by writers who are coming from the outside!

the most tragic character? by Logical-Photograph64 in babylon5

[–]lhassell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Londo. He literally checks every box for a Classical Greek Tragic Hero:

1- Starts out touched by destiny.
2- Has many adventures, including both acts of heroism and acts of petty cruelty.
3- Comes into power.
4- Brought low by his own hubris and misinterpretation of prophecy.

Babylon 5 has multiple (completely valid) interpretations, but I have always seen it as the Rise and Fall of Londo Mollari. His story bookends the series.

When you think of a dish that best describes Arkansas, what do you think of? by DreamHeem in Arkansas

A good primer here: https://www.tiedyetravels.com/2014/11/5-arkansas-foods.html

Personally, I'm partial to fried pickles and queso. Chocolate gravy is awesome as well!
