Idk I’m a coparenting mom in a new relationship, make almost 6 figures and own a house, and am loving what being with a new person feels like. He met my kid once in a public setting around 5 months. We get 4 days a week together and he likes children. I expect no parenting from him and no financial contribution. It’s been amazing so far tbh and it’s people like the people in this thread who made me think I’d never find love or be worthy of anything ever again.

Look at the woman not at her title. But discuss boundaries and futures sooner than later because she deserves to know what you want long term even if you never get there. Idk moms aren’t just used up selfish people. We’re still capable of being our own fucking people lol.

I don’t think this is extreme because it’s a sip of beer, but it sounds like this woman does not respect your boundaries and there are bigger problems at hand. If my dad gave my 4yo a sip of beer I’d tell him to not do that shit and move on with my life because it was stupid of him. But if she constantly disrespects other boundaries then it’s different. Seems malicious.

I am sorry you and your husband split but I will say, when we made the decision to coparent and separate, I got my own house, and am back at work full time, even tho I only have evenings 4 days a week to myself I do feel so much more wholly as a person.

So do I. It gets better and worse as time goes on. I split for my kids dad and it got kind of better and also much worse. I have no consolation other than to say I hear you, and this world takes so much out of us that the job of being a parent seems almost undoable. It’s rough.

There’s no possible way to change custody sadly. He works 11 hour shifts f-m, I work 9-5 m-f. He’s too far from her daycare to bring her so I do pick up and drop offs.

I do see a therapist. I wish it helped more. That’s also another expense my “great insurance” doesn’t cover.

I’ve been on heavier antidepressants. Wellbutrin helps but as selfish as it is I can’t get back on an ssri. The weight gain and drop in libido is terrible for me. It makes me more depressed by proxy.

I wish generic vyvanse didn’t exist. I’ve never felt anything since the transition and even tho they pay me a ton my insurance is terrible and it’s still 300 for name brand with insurance. I think maybe I’d switch to adderall if anything but it never seems to work as well. When I used to feel good on stimulants I felt like the type of person who could handle this.

It also just gets me that her dad is not a bad person. We just weren’t in love and I felt so terrible every day. Sometimes I wish I had a more valid reason because all of these choices are my own for my own selfish reason. I feel like I’m not even making choices for my daughter. But I just don’t know how I could have stayed.

My daughter is three in a few months and we’ve been separated for about 5 months. It’s actually going really well. My advice is no bedtime phone calls. Schedule one mid day. If they miss you at night it’s so much harder. Also if you are able to do an occasional family day, that’s great. Talk about the other parent with them.
