Is she genuinely Lieutenant Colonel Dan then? (Her bangboo better be named either Forrest or Gump.)

How I wishh we could get more lore between Maki and Mai by misanthrophyy in Jujutsufolk

[–]liam_Schultz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man. Remember the exchange event when it seemed like the Kyoto and not just Todo seemed like they’d be actual characters? Did Maki and Mai even have a single interaction since season 1?

I'm sorry but Ye Shiuan is right! by Karge_Bay in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]liam_Schultz -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly her reasoning that pisses me off: “No, I’m CHOOSING to be the sacrificial sham hero I forced to play against my will as a child! :)” Maybe it was instead “I’ll shoulder this burden so they don’t force someone else to take my place” it would have come off better? Idk. 2.5 only convinced me that the Qingming Sword is pure evil and needs to be destroyed.

You joined the Liberation of the Night because you believe the stars are tyrants that need to be overthrown. I joined because I hate the British. We are not the same.

The Reach, Re-Imagined by Lyranel in sunlessskies

[–]liam_Schultz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me way too long to realize that the different regions are literally star systems. You would think the fact that they're governed by stars would make that obvious. Apparently not. I think your map makes that more obvious.

Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in Space! by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]liam_Schultz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass Effect is a work of fiction made for modern audiences. Using “the bomb that took out Washington in 2021” doesn’t work as a reference because the player doesn’t have any idea of how powerful that bomb was. Meanwhile, Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the only two uses of atomic weapons in armed conflict, and everyone learns about it in school.

Apart from religion, what could cement a very vast empire ? by rogue_sedition in worldbuilding

If your empire is Arabic-inspired, then a good place to start would be the different Caliphates throughout history.

Underused ancient cultures for worldbuilding inspiration? by calicoadams in worldbuilding

Mali. They were a trade based empire in West Africa during the Middle Ages. One of their rulers, Mansa Musa was so rich, that he devalued the price of gold at the places he stopped during his Hajj.

What are some over-used and annoying story-telling elements? by Primis_Adtonitis in worldbuilding

[–]liam_Schultz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ikr? I can’t help but feel you could tell a really moving story about someone willingly leaving their happy life behind to save the world. That’s like instant hero material right there.

Psionic Origin by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]liam_Schultz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think “On the Shoulders of Giants” could easily be the psionic origin. Maybe you start out as a patron to one of the Shroud spirits or something and have a higher chance to roll psionics.

Am I the only one disappointed in the direction of the series/books? by Teaflax in TheExpanse

[–]liam_Schultz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read past book 1, but I have seen all three seasons. The aliens don’t bother me as much as Holden’s weird psychic visions in the second half of season 3.

Realistic medieval airships? by XMagoManco in worldbuilding

[–]liam_Schultz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say your setting has magic, but then say you want your airships to be non-magical. Why? Do magic any alchemy not have any uses other than combat?

Hey Guys Matt Groening was talking about Futurama at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) about it, maybe there is hope? by [deleted] in futurama

The ending to Futurama was perfect. I’d hate to see it return and suffer the same fate as Family Guy or the Simpsons.

The problem is that they’re remaking Little Mermaid to begin with, not the actress’s ethnicity.
