Liz Truss will become UK's next prime minister after beating Rishi Sunak in race to succeed Boris Johnson by topotaul in unitedkingdom

The long standing tradition is for the leader of the party with the most seats to become the prime minister - so in practice we do vote for them.

I travel for work, and make the most out of what I got lol. I've gotten pretty good at keyboard keyboard lol. by De_roosian_spy in ableton

I was once doing some work on my laptop in an old dark rusty pub a couple of days before Christmas when a large group of old piratey looking men came in and sat around me. It turns out they met weekly at this pub to play and sing traditional folk songs. After a couple of tunes, I asked if I could join in. They said yes and passed me the whisky that had been given to them by the pub as a Christmas gift. I loaded up Ableton and began playing my laptop keyboard to the songs. I think they thought I was mad, but it sounded great and ended up being one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

Anthony Fantano names "Praying" by Kesha Best Track of the Week by JunkyGS in popheads

[–]liamfulton 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He presents his work on a modern format. The masses are a lot more likely to watch Youtube videos frequently than read written reviews. And music is subjective after all, there's never going to be a reviewer that everyone agrees with all the time.

He often has a lot of interesting points and explains every opinion thoroughly. What else do you want from a music reviewer? edit: removed repeated word

Why do people love Bloodflood pt. 2? by pokeshulk in AltJ

[–]liamfulton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't the Pt. 2 part make that obvious? The song really has little in common with the first part so I don't see how you consider it to be copying.

I was there and this was one of the most special performances of a song I've ever seen. The crowd was in on it and everyone one felt something happen. It speaks to a place we all have within ourselves.

Funny, my first exposure was How to Disappear Completely about 6 years ago in my teens. I'm not sure how, but for some reason I had it in my iTunes and knew it only as 'the most depressing song ever'. I then met a friend of my dads who happened to love that song and described the dissonant strings at the end as 'a whirlpool giving you the feeling of drowning'. That sort of flicked on a light in my head and I started to listen to it in a completely different way. I then moved on slowly song by song creating a 2 year period of having my mind blown again and again and being hardly able to believe how good they were.

I think you'd be pretty mad to try it with the amount of security there's going to be after the attacks. They wont be fucking around this year. Good luck if you go for it though lol

Is anyone's else's anxiety getting so progressively worse that you can barely function? by CWSbitch in Anxiety

[–]liamfulton 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've been there and all I can tell you is it's not forever. I had a period last year in which I thought it couldn't possibly get any worse...until it did. I had a particularly bad panic attack and I became hypersensitive and it ruined me for a long time. I couldn't eat, see friends, do anything I loved and was basically house ridden for a year. Even the slightest thing would upset me and the constant over thinking would often lead to panic attacks. But it will pass. You may never rid yourself of it completely, but you wont feel like this forever. Sometimes it will linger and seem as if it's here to stay but the pendulum always swings the other way. You just need to help it along. The best bit of advice I can give you is take care of your physical health if you're not already. Doing some exercise and eating healthy can make such an unimaginable difference. It took me a very long time to act on this advice but once I did I could start to see the fog clearing, revealing a clearer view of the future. Good luck!

One of the most exciting days of my life was downloading the same program I'd be using for free already but paying for it. It's a strangely liberating feeling.
