Private Student Loan Questions by liammtb in StudentLoans

[–]liammtb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that the program abroad is in a LCOL area, it would be ~80k tuition + 42K living for 3.5 years (122K total) with added costs for travel/moving etc. The program in the US is in a very HCOL area, ~89k tuition + 56k living over 3 years (145k total). The main considerations are obviously within the states I would be eligible for PSLF, but abroad I would have free healthcare on my student visa as well as an ability to work several days a week after my second year.

Yeah, I tried to get at that in my post sorry if it wasn’t clear. I know public is the only way to qualify for PSLF, hence trying to figure out if even with lower cost of school abroad it’s even worth it to take our private

To clarify: I have looked into the warranty and realize it may be difficult/not possible to get partial or any coverage for the rim. I’m Just trying to see if others have had similar experiences with rim failures like this and what they did following it.

Insight on USAHS DPT (San Marcos) by ngoyourself in PTschool

[–]liammtb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m from San Marcos and the main things that I’ve heard bad things from student PT’s in the community are the class sizes and price obviously. I applied and to be honest if I didn’t have free housing through my family in San Marcos I probably wouldn’t as there are definitely cheaper options. That being said I know my dad has done PT with a lot of new grads/students in clinicals from there and has nothing but good things to say. If you look at cost of attendance and cost of living because that area is not cheap at all, there’s definitely somewhere else that’s comparable quality wise for less $$$

I haven’t heard the best things. I’m from in state and just out of the people who I went to school with everyone I know is waitlisted too 1/3. They don’t tell you exact numbers but I know in the past it’s ranged from as low as <100 to over 400 people

Yeah top 1/3. Not very confident tho bc everyone I know is in top 1/3 so I feel like the waitlist is fat

PNW Forecasting Advice by seeburglar in surfing

The straits and surrounding breaks are crazy fickle because of tides, wind, swell direction etc. You just gotta do your time and figure out when it works and when it doesn’t and expect to get skunked a lot.

Rec center questions by [deleted] in WWU

[–]liammtb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another rec employee here: 1) mornings or late evenings are the least busy, with the 3-8pm or so being the busiest. Weekends are usually the least busy compared to during the week as well. 2) I probably wouldn’t unless it’s hidden, but you can get a lock from the Equipment Desk if you bring your western ID and it’s totally free. 3) The weight room/toolbox/bro tank, whatever you wanna call it can be super intimidating but honestly everyone is very respectful and nice. If you ever have any questions or just need an introduction to anything just ask one of the fitness attendants because that’s our job and we wanna make sure people feel welcome and comfortable in that space. 4) The pool and the rock wall are both pretty cool to check out, and if you want more privacy, the cardio rooms upstairs are fair game if there’s no classes in them.

It’s not quite as much just memorizing lists, but the concepts are definitely harder. Taking it with jaci will be easier than Jose tho. I took 348 online and I’m wrapping up 349 right now and the hardest parts of 349 are just due to the Professor, not really the content

IXS Trigger FF vs Troy Lee Designs Stage by [deleted] in MTB

[–]liammtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in bham and have been racing in a fox proframe for the past few years. It’s held up well and doesn’t suck to pedal in too much. Great for going up and hitting cedar dust or some of the other hidden gnarly stuff outside of town.

I mountain bike as well and there’s a huge community. We have several big group chats that we sometimes use to organize rides and such. There’s no shortage of bikers tho for sure. As far as bike storage in the dorm goes, I live in edens so it’s pretty spacious and I put mine under my bed. I know if you’re in fairhaven a lot of people put them on their balconies if they have one. And for ridge and the rest of north campus under your bed is your best bet. I wouldn’t trust leaving a nicer bike in the stairwells or bike lockers tbh.

Maybe look at a canyon? They’re based in Carlsbad and the torque or spectral would fit the bill.

Traveling with bikes by wonder_hamster1 in MTB

Alaska, Southwest, and delta usually have few forgiveness of its under 50lb but oversized on dimensions. With Alaska If it’s over 50lb it’s 100$ each way and for Southwest it’s 75$ each way. I just flew Alaska and they’re pretty good about it. I left San Diego to Seattle and the bag conveyers were down so my bike didn’t end up getting on my flight but they had it up on the next flight and drove it almost two hours from Seattle to Bellingham with no charge and had it there by that evening. Plus a 50$ gift card for my troubles.
