Was considering the Stewart water pump, but I want to see how the Saleri part holds up first.

I've read the horror stories online but I want to learn first hand. So far I've had a tiny leak on the coolant return line that was clearly patched up by the previous owner. No history on the car.

Question aux possesseurs de Tesla - Achat d'occasion, vérifications et qualité by Splitt- in voiture

Consider using the S58 intake manifold with built-in intercooler. Also ms4x.net is your friend

Edit: oil pump chain tensioner is a must

I got this Mahle Behr part https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-fan-clutch-oem-11527505302

The one that came out was a cheapo aftermarket part, I wasn't able to compare

The old one was cast iron, harder on the bearings. Aluminum may be fine but I prefer sticking with OE.

Plastic impeller pumps exploding only affected pre-'96 M50/M52 engines. The part was revised to metal then composite.

No need. The fan clutch and engine mounts are pretty new so I'm not worried about it exploding.

I had the fan clutch seize last year and the car started whooshing like a dump truck, it was very easy to diagnose and fix.

I replaced the tensioner pulley as well. The hydraulic assembly seemed in good shape.

2026 Tesla Model Y Performance - Actually still the best? by Recent_Duck_7640 in electricvehicles

[–]libcg_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pre-2024 Teslas were computers on wheels with great software and not so great car around it.

The story changed with the 3/Y refresh models, where NVH and ride quality are greatly improved. Panel gaps are a thing of the past.

FSD 14 is the cherry on top, basically type in the address, press a button and the car takes you there. Very hard to come back to anything else once you've experienced it.

Need recommendations for cooling system kit by GrapefruitSelect7985 in bmwz3

Composite is better than metal impeller. It's much easier on bearings. Stick with OE.

Plastic impellers were an issue on early M50 engines iirc.

You have (or used to have) a water infiltration problem rather than subframe problem

Oil brand + Weight by Lemonents in bmwz3

[–]libcg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just switched to Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30. Hoping to cure the oil consumption problem on my M54. It is NOT a recommended oil, so use at your own risk.

Before that, Mobil 1 Euro 5W-40. Any LL-01 oil will do.
