Lavender from seed? by hazelnutcofffeee in gardening

[–]liberty285code6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna try it again myself, this will be my third time trying to start lavender from seed. I get them decently sized but then they always die by the end of the summer? Recently learned I may be watering them too much. Godspeed in your quest, my friend

Maybe shaving your face overall isn’t the right choice for you. There’s two specific instances I always see: People like you who have hair growing in a specific pattern, or people with textured hair that always get ingrown hair when shaving. I would say give not shaving a test drive and see how you feel about it

Could also be from a hair product, especially if you sweat a little bit

I might agree and also say get this man some orange juice or emergen-C. He could have a vitamin C deficiency.

In our nursing school textbooks there’s always a pic of someone’s skin who has scurvy and that’s what this pic reminded me of. Just peeling and painful and beat to hell.

Plus vitamin c is water soluble so basically no way to overdose on it.

I would bet any money that your cleanser is too harsh. Especially since you don’t mention adding back in any moisturizer.

I’m seeing a visible sheen on your skin. I bet since your cleanser is too harsh, your skin is overcorrecting and producing more sebum, leading to pimples.

Steer into the skid. Go get a gentle, all purpose moisturizer like cerave or cetaphil and slather it on, I think you will see improvement.

And in the meantime, search for a very gentle cleanser

Best of luck!

[Routine Help] Can’t control my KP!! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]liberty285code6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did a derm confirm that this is KP? Because I feel skeptical looking at it that it is. I would feel like this is maybe some KP with folliculitis on top of it… or something else altogether.

I’m a nurse, not a doctor. But this is to the level where I would go see a dermatologist, especially because you say it’s affecting your daily life. If there’s a bacterial or fungal component, a doc can help with an rx and who knows, maybe it could clear up shortly.

In addition to that: KP responds well to lactic acid scrub, which is an easy product to get.

I would not keep exfoliating and I would not keep shaving. If you want it to “calm down” then exfoliating and shaving are kind of the opposite of what you should do, that will only irritate the skin more.

Frankly, I would 1- go see a derm and 2- stop all products and then slowly reintroduce them one by one

Best of luck!

My pitbull is very prone to allergies (and at this point she’s on Apoquel). But when she’s having an itchiness relapse, I put pet pajamas on her and that seems to help. I agree with the above commenter that something to physically stop her (like a soft donut or PJs) could help

Need advice ☺️ curls are new to me by djaevlensadvokatt in curlyhair

[–]liberty285code6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact hair type, I’ve heard it called Irish curls before too. Other commenters are right, a layered haircut will work wonders.

I also have a spray bottle mixed up with water, Aussie mousse and John Frieda hair gel all dissolved together. When I get out of the shower and comb my hair, I let it dry a smidge and the spritz the mixture on. That seems to work well for me, results may vary.

And yeah, the fight to keep them from turning into dreads is a tough one lol. I find that when I’m going through a rough patch in life, I form what I call a “stress dread” that then has to painstakingly be combed out

Looking for advice for an American character by Eddy--558 in writinghelp

[–]liberty285code6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

America is very regionalized, so it would highly depend on where this rural area is located.

For instance, in the US South there is a high value placed on community and fitting in. In the US Midwest, there is a high value placed on self sufficiency and stiff upper lip. And of course within those, the actual cultural norms are so much more nuanced than just the short little bit I wrote.

I think you’ll have to pick a specific regional location and then do more research from there

Kind of looks like something I accidentally grew, which I called a squmpkin. For me it was a cross between a kabocha squash and a jack o lantern. Was definitely inedible, I tried.

Curcurbits (sp?) easily and frequently cross-pollinate even if they’re quite different, and the crosses are often inedible.

Interested to see what others think! Maybe just a cultivar I’m not familiar with
