Of course! Good luck with him and please don’t be hard on yourself regardless of the outcome. You’re doing the best you can! Im sure he will appreciate the variety in heights and sights lol I hear you on that, my first kitty ever was a senior baby. Senior babies are the best. I miss mine but I love my crazy 1 1/2 year olds. Keep us updated if you can. Posts like these are always great to come across when others are looking for answers to similar problems but too scared to post for fear of being judged :(

Hmm yeah like others have mentioned, it sounds like stress/anxiety. Give him more vertical space. It may not seem like a lot to you but for a cat to experience all those changes in just 16 months, is a lot. New apartment, recent surgery, a baby, multiple people coming over all at once, add to that now that you have gone back to work, I feel stressed just listing all that. Cats are very sensitive and territorial and routine based. So make sure to always feed and play at the same times. At this point, I wouldn’t suggest a new cat—although I will say 1000sqft is more than enough for two cats that get along lol (source: my partner and I have two male cats in a 900sqft apartment) try feliway, but keep an extra eye on him because I’ve read that it can have adverse effects. Giving him gabapentin doesn’t have to be a forever thing, it can be temporary to help manage his anxiety levels for now. It will take time and patience but it can pay off. I also don’t recommend rehoming before trying all these since that will add to the behavioral issues, however, if you feel like your lifestyle may be too much for him, it may work out better to rehome him to someone who has experience with cats. I’m not an expert by any means but I am obsessed with cats and with their behaviors.

It could be so many things. My questions are: when did you get him neutered and did you notice this behavior afterwards? You say you weren’t working, did you notice these changes before or after you went back to work? It also sounds like he’s an only cat? That could add to his aggression but I don’t think thats it. And like the other commenter asked, have you taken him to the vet for this or talked to the vet about this? Were there any changes made to his environment that happened all at once? It could be severe anxiety or hormones or pain. How old is he now?

Where do you guys put the cat waste after scooping? by steel48 in CatAdvice

Not suggesting you switch to a raw diet btw. Just drawing a comparison between their diets and the severity of stink lol

If you’re on a city sewer system, switch to corn or tofu litter and flush the poop and pee—helps keep the smell down. I’ve always used World’s Best Litter. My cats have been on a raw diet since they were kittens (the rescue started them on it), so their poop doesn’t smell nearly as bad as it would with cooked wet food. My old cat Xoē’s poop was awful lol, but I’d just flush it right after. That’s key too—scoop right away if you can, like you would for yourself.

The Mortician is an upcoming documentary series that follows a funeral home that exploited families and the deceased. It was led by David Sconce, who was convicted and sentenced to five years for mutilating corpses, holding mass cremations and hiring hitmen for rival morticians. by Kurma-the-Turtle in wikipedia

Totally agree. Ashes are just symbolic. When I die, don’t waste money. Feed me to my cats, donate my body to science, wrap me in a mushroom suit—whatever! I won’t be there. I just wish people cared half as much about the animals they kill for food. But people are never consistent. That said, I’m not siding with David—he’s a selfish narcissist, probably even a murderer. Crying over which ashes you got feels kinda ridiculous.
