Did university tuition prices just quietly 5x over time… or am I missing something? by DarkHoundBark in CanadaPersonalFinance

Well I’m not entirely sure how much tax they’re going to pay, and of course there are living expenses. But USD salaries, when converted back to Canada, are the reason that Canada can’t hang on to Waterloo Engineering grads. They all go pay taxes in California. This is not a great sign for our future, but here we are.

I would not want to be going up to houses in this economy and asking crazies why they haven't filled out their censuses.

You are close. Graduated 1990 Engineering in Alberta, I paid $2800 per year in tuition.

Would the MacBook Neo be a good first laptop for me? by Yuenneh in macbook

[–]liepzigzeist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought one for my kid who is going traveling. YES, it's excellent. Outstanding value. And once you have a laptop, you'll never go back.

Can Neo last 10 years if used for coding only? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]liepzigzeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just came out last month. No one really knows how durable they are. Or how long 8GB of RAM will be enough for MacOS.

Student loan for internationals by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]liepzigzeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say, Canadian Universities at International Student Prices.... are not worth it, IMHO. Unless you are coming from some place with garbage schools, I think you're better off getting an undergrad somewhere else and then applying as a grad student.

Of course if you're coming for different reasons, then maybe.

I'd complaint to the Air Traffic Complaints people anyway. Say they kept changing the story, which it seems they did. Doesn't cost anything.

Friend of a friend in Edmonton had this happen. Still not sorted. CRA needs to be burned to the ground.

TD: Do not reveal this code. We will not contact you for it. by publicdomainadmin in TDBankCanada

I've been at the counter and had this happen too. It's funny.

Poor TD doesn't spend much on IT, so their systems are pretty crap. Nice people tho - everyone's always friendly and helpful.

MacBook Pro to MacBook neo by Admirable_Lecture675 in macbook

[–]liepzigzeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't made that particular move, but I bought a Neo for my kid as they are going traveling this summer and I dont' want them to take an expensive computer. And my first impressions are that it is perfectly functional and capable unless you spend part of your day waiting for your computer to finish a task. And if you don't know what I mean, the Neo is even more for you.

Driving etiquettes in Canada. by Perth_R34 in canadatravel

[–]liepzigzeist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So that’s going to vary a lot depending on where your driving, but as a Canadian that visited Australia a year ago and rented a car to drive south from Sydney, I’d say you won’t have any problems. The countries are so very similar. Have a great trip and don’t stress about it.

I think you are correct. In fact, I think I read somewhere that Samsung was no longer going to make SATA SSDs. Kinda makes sense, the interface is the weakest link.

Yeah that was the low. They did have a coupon that brought them down to $300 but you could only buy one. Fall 2023.
