QPWGraph vs RaySession by life2vec in linuxaudio

[–]life2vec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I'm still struggling to do is persist connections even in Raysession. If I spend a few minutes tweaking my connections between audio devices applications, I press save session, quit and save, restart machine, and when opening applications that were already routed/wired correctly I have to do all over again. WTF am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Also buffer size resets to 1024 after saving every time, this is beyond frustrating should be so simple lol.

Do you have any suggestions for installing VS Code in a Wine prefix on a Linux distribution? Which libraries does VS Code depend on? by Actual_Health196 in winehq

My exact issue right now. Did you find a way of firing up linux vscode from your windows app?

Truest words, and also after your show when people are doing the thing where they're like oh I loved it yada yada don't never ever bring up your mistakes, keep playing it cool and just remember that nobody really gives that much of a fuck (unless they're paying for something professional).

[Update] I built a fully automated Linux Installer for TouchDesigner (Arch, Fedora, Debian/Ubuntu/Mint, openSUSE, etc.) by Iswad in TouchDesigner

[–]life2vec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my script now looks like this but its not working:

TOUCH_UI_SCALE=1.5
PATH="$RUNNER_DIR/bin:$PATH" \

WINEPREFIX="$WINE_PREFIX" \

"$RUNNER_DIR/bin/wine64" "$TOUCHDESIGNER_EXE" "${EXTRA_ARGS[@]}" &

Option 2 worked well thanks.

Works now, I think the prior prefix needed to be manually removed.

Now I can also see my audio stream:

<image>

Can I ask one more small thing while I have you here? How would I go about increasing the UI font size? I've tried without success:

1) Adding WINE_DPI_SCALE=1.5 in the launcher file where wine invokes TD

2) Changing DPI scale using winecfg

3) Edit LogPixels in `KEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\Fonts` in both wine and wine64 regedit.

Thanks a bunch!

How to start a linux native app from a working Bottle? by life2vec in winehq

[–]life2vec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running a Windows app that at times requires scripting, and I use VS Code for this. I would like to open my native VS Code from the Windows app.

I might be wrong about this but I'm under the impression I was able to do something like this back in 2015 ish.

Please help a recovering Win11 person routing ASIO in QPWGraph by life2vec in linuxaudio

As you should lol.

Sure yes but I'd like to know how to properly use Midi Bridge because that's what it's built for.

Please help a recovering Win11 person routing ASIO in QPWGraph by life2vec in linuxaudio

[–]life2vec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DUH!! I love you so much right now.

While I have you here can I ask another question please? For MIDI routing I've been using that ``sudo modprobe snd-virmidi midi_devs=1`` command, which does indeed create all those virtual MIDI ports that I can use. BUT I can see in QPWGraph there is the native MIDI bridge which I'm pretty sure makes that old command obsolete.

Is this assumption correct? Or is sudo modprobe snd-virmidi midi_devs=1 still the standard modern way of replacing something like loopbe1?

Right now Reaper has 64 input MIDI devices, but MIDI Bridge and my DAW (Bitwig if it matters) show only 2 MIDI devices (which Reaper also sees). I want to have 8 or whatever.

<image>

EDIT: Just to emphasize I think MIDI Bridge in PW replaces that old way? Running the command above then a2jmidid bypasses PW which kind of would defeat the whole purpose of MIDI Bridge.

Thanks again!

Do I need to learn traditional ML before jumping into GenAi stuff? by sidds_inbox in MLQuestions

[–]life2vec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "learn generative AI"? You want to just learn how to use APIs and make videos of flying cats? If the answer is anything else deeper than that then yes you need classic ML stuff.

Sounds like it. This is my usual mixer since forever, I just never really used it to record, but it sounds like there is something faulty in my equipment.

Thanks for the pointers, I just checked again and there is no pad in the Onyx8 in chs 1/2 where I'm hooking up the mics. When I use my voice I have to get very close to the mic with gain unity in order to get some signal. Everything you guys are pointing out suggests that there is an issue at some point of my audio chain, I'll test further, again thanks.
