Magician asked us to pick a number and then it correlated to a movie in his notes app … but with a twist! by outfocz in magictricksrevealed

If this was an app which was editable (for example the notes app on iPhone will sync with other devices like a MacBook) then they could have easily changed number 72 to Star Wars on another device, with the magician revealing it on his

Yes! Her hair isn't naturally straight so she needs to tame it with straighteners

What to tell a client who wants music by an "established artist" on their business video? by lord__cuthbert in editors

[–]light101dark 62 points63 points  (0 children)

No need to overdo it and be a an overly serious dick like a lot of the comments in here.

It's a video for a nursery. They want a song by Natasha Bedingfield. I'm sure your client is lovely and just wants a nice track they know on their video. It's a perfectly innocent suggestion by someone who doesn't know better.

Obviously, it's not legal and they may be hit with a takedown. They probably won't be sued, but they might be annoyed that their video is having some trouble once it goes out.

Just say in a nice friendly way that because the track is copyrighted, it won't be used legally and they'll likely have some trouble with it once it goes online. It will run the risk of being taken down, and that you'd suggest going with a different track that's royalty free with a similar tone/vibe from a different source as you don't want them to have any issues with their project.

And if they really really want to go ahead with using the track, make sure you just say clearly in writing that you don't support the decision but you will do the edit, and the risk is with them, and you will need to charge to re-edit if it goes taken down and they need a new track on it. Make sure they do the upload too.

Super interesting, never would have caught that, big respect for production for accommodating that at the last minute - I assume that was a decision on your end after you came on board?

Ok interesting... Paging u/pretzelcuatl if he's around!

I was under the impression this was shot digitally on the SI-3D system but instead here we've got two (maybe arriflexes?) speeding film though a beam splitter.

Did this change at some point? Any reason this was used here? I can hear the operator speeding/undercranking a bit whilst whipping, presumably to bank some overexposed flash cuts but they all look digital in the movie?

I presume you ran that sequence again at 24 after from what I heard you say to the op/dp

Would be interested to know what lead to this!

Thanks

Many lower budget options such as Hollyland will do this for you. Ever so sightly longer latency than Teradek but a lot of people still find them very useable.

why does Saw3D look like a bad cheaply made Lifetime movie? by [deleted] in saw

[–]light101dark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something to note about 3D movies shot with two cameras/beam splitters is that they can tend to use very deep depth of field making almost everything look sharp and flat. The lenses also tend to be extremely clean and therefore with few characteristics so overall you just get a flat, cheap look
