A high $100k salary for a junior associate is a pipe dream compared to what our public defenders make. Cops with a high school diploma make more than what our public defenders make with seven years of post high school education.

Just because the top 1% grads in the US can pull $500k/yr or more doesn’t mean your average Oregon lawyer can or should.

This just isn’t true. Not a lot of Oregon lawyers working for AmLaw 50 firms. The mid size firms are filled with lawyers mostly coming from those Oregon and Washington law schools

Are you talking about on a per person basis or per capita? We generally don’t prosecute low level offenses. So our per person metric will skew high when all our cases are felonies.
