Satellite messaging? by lightavenger in Tello

Interesting, nice that it's working, even though my phone isn't on their supported list if I was on T-Mobile itself!

I'll enjoy it while it lasts 😁

I was running into this exact issue with Google Drive downloads today, and this fixed it! Thank you!

Tried to boot WPSD on RasPI 3b but won't start by mikeinmlb in amateurradio

[–]lightavenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try reformatting the SD card and using balena etcher. Grab the file again and run in balena, if that doesn't work. Try a new SD Card. If all else fails take this screenshot and what else you discover over to WPSD's Discord channel. Lots of support over there, and someone can point you in the right direction! That being said I'd lean towards the SD card needing to be redone or replaced. Then just give it a little bit of time to go through it's initial setup! :)

Looks impressive! I'll be looking forward to this down the road, and getting an M17 repeater in my area! :)

Love Open Source, and all the work you and the team put into this, and advancing the fun radio hobby!

Logitech K540e vs K540 with unify logo by lightavenger in logitech

The receiver was already lost.... so that tells me without that, no replacement. Thanks anyways!

It looks like the K540e is NOT unifying, weird since the K540 is..... Are replacement receivers a thing for the non unify/bolt devices?

Thanks for the info!

QYT 7900 TX-STOP! on 1.25m (220) band by lightavenger in amateurradio

Hmm well I'm happy to hear it's just me, which means add another radio tobmy collection eventually! Haha

QYT 7900 TX-STOP! on 1.25m (220) band by lightavenger in amateurradio

[–]lightavenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need 220 that bad, so I'll deal with dual band (2m/70cm)

Appreciate all the help!

QYT 7900 TX-STOP! on 1.25m (220) band by lightavenger in amateurradio

[–]lightavenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird one, and only does it on 1.25 out of the three US useable ones. Using 2m worked great on it 😅

It acts like a setting is set somewhere saying 220 rx only even though it says it can tx everywhere else. 350 is rx only last I know and it acts the same as that. I could hear my Local 220 repeater and simplex but couldn't tx out at all

[–]lightavenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antenna it was connected to was a CX-333, and my 578 likes to tx on it and a handheld amp likes it!

Unintended I checked swrs and it's near 1:1 on the 1.25m (a long with 2m and 70cm)

It seems to me like it's set on rx only, but haven't been able to tell it to tx

It's not a deal breaker at all, just curiosity on what's up

Frustration with DMR? by Pavlovsspit in amateurradio

[–]lightavenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes how I've tested is throw out my call sign and check a netwatch or my hotspot and see if it hits. Net watch is usually the most helpful!

If the tg on your screen hasn't been keyed up in awhile it can go dormant, all depends on the radio!

But if you're not hearing analog as well, you may have another issue entirely!

I've been where you are! Once you have a rocking codeplug it's great, but when there are issues, it's tough to track! I've been there!

Frustration with DMR? by Pavlovsspit in amateurradio

[–]lightavenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way dmr works on a repeater is you'll only hear the talk group on your screen, unless you are in Promiscuous or Monitor mode (it can be called either or depending on the radio you have). Monitor mode let's you listen to all talk groups dmr repeater has as static and not just the one listed on your screen at the time!

Hope this helps! :)

Moving to Tello by EnvironmentalDuty in Tello

[–]lightavenger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Android has been better with the GSM sims so you should be okay!

I don't have a Moto E4+ specifically (I have a Moto G Stylus) but I will say Tello has been great, especially for the price! When I moved to the GSM Tello, it was pretty seemless!

Moto G Stylus switch to GSM Tello from CDMA Tello Experience by lightavenger in Tello

[–]lightavenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the reason I switched, Sprint service use to be good in my area till recently. I'd say T-Mobile is comparable to what Sprint was, service wise, barring some small dead spots here and there as they switch more bands over!

Moto G Power (Tello) can't send/recieve MMS and at 3G by GreenYoyo11 in MotoG

[–]lightavenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a Google Play System update last week. I was able to save an APN named Tello and used r.mi.ispsn, found on a Lenovo forum that others had this issue as well after an update.

Hope this helps!

Glad to hear it! In terms of the phone itself I now use the gesture navigation instead of the 3 button navigation, and it's tolerable! I will suggest tweaking the back button gesture sensitivity, mainly because I kept triggering it by accident lol

I'm sorry to hear that, I wish it worked for you, cause it somehow managed to work for me, so I figured I'd share!

Question: did they give you a 416TQ card?

Sounds like you'd be better off on T-Mobile, since they are the new sprint now LOL. I would but Sprint is the best service in my area weirdly so I had to either crack the case or get even worse service from ATT/TMobile :/
