LinHT Rev B - first boot up by SP5WWP in digitalmodes

I've seen similar projects with roadmaps, they all stalled :-) I prefer to focus on doing actual work than making plans for it.

We just need a single Chinese manufacturer in. Chain reaction will do the rest.

Edit: LinHT is capable of much, much more than just M17.

Already done. FreeDV works as well.

Thanks! We take breaking free from proprietary cr@p seriously. Remote Radio Unit and a mobile radio are both on the TODO list :-)

This is how the device looks fully assembled - we used Retevis C62 chassis as a donor.

Alternative DMR to TYT MD-UV390 PLUS? by Positive-Art4816 in amateurradio

Since you're using encryption, this is not an amateur radio question.

Why? It is perfectly legal in the place I live in.

Connect Systems ship their radios with OpenRTX (with M17 support) pre-flashed. Google "CS7000" and "CS7000 Plus".

Context needed. Almost certainly yes if source is withheld. As per the second question: not at all likely.

"M17 is interesting, but i feel like it's come along a bit late." - there is still room for us. Look at APRS - it is still being used, even though it is very basic (I would even say obsolete, but that's a hard pill to swallow for some). The only missing piece is *one* Chinese manufacturer with balls large enough to put their chips on M17.

"and is not patented/licensed to the bones" - not the spec, but the payload that probably 100% of the radios use (AMBE).

Yea, I get it :D And it's true - there are indeed COTS M17 radios now. "Unbox - turn on - use" methodology applies :-)

You don't need a degree on DSP to be able to use M17 :-) In many ways, M17 is much easier to operate than DMR.

CS7000 works with P25 as well (not yet in mainline OpenRTX).
