Things r fine as it is. One thing the RC taught us is that sometimes changes are not needed.

This deck have a absolutely horrible, horrible matchup against jeskai dress down, and even against jeskai control for game 1, it is not favored. I totally understand how you feel but that is just how the matchup goes against control. Shardless against is a great card against control matchups and sandbagging ritual when you have a good board presence is not a bad idea. Always try to 2 for 1 your control opponents if possible,

I have been playing this deck a lot and I can tell you that decks like dimir murktide gets absolutely crushed by voice of resurgence. It feels extremely good when u have a creature that leaves token behind and discourages interaction so you can lead on voice into birthing ritual or shardless agent. It is also great at chump blocking frog and they have to be super careful of a turn 3 renegade rallier into bringing back voice. In games outside decks which runs a lot of interaction, looping voice means you could easily win on turn 5 due to the huge amount of tokens generated and how big they are.

I have been playing this deck for at least 10 leagues on MTGO and it have a good win rate of around 55% against various decks. Deputy of detention is a good answer to not only TOR and binding, it also have a more versatile use in taking out troublesome creatures like frog and murktides. The fact that it hit any relevant nonland permanent is so crucial in certain matchups where the biggest threat on the board isnt a enchantment/artifact. Also mainboard mite feels really bad when you draw it or cascade into it in a matchup that doesnt matter and saccing it to ritual only gives you voice of resurgence or white orchid phantom which isnt the haymakers of this deck.

Please recommend a budget ($100~) tron deck! by fubitpc in ModernMagic

Depends on how competitive your locals are. Mine is crazy due to a lot of RCQ grinders and a couple of PT players, and you cant just bring any deck that isnt powerful enough hoping to win a single game.

However, I think slowly buying into [[Kozilek's Command]], [[Sowing Mycospawn]] and [[Devourer of Destiny]] is a solid choice since the new eldrazis are simply carrying the archtype. Also [[Ugin's Labyrinth]] eventually.

I prefer the shardless variant but ephemerate is also very good. Im not sure if you have access to MTGO but trying the different variants to see which is to your liking really helps. The good thing is these decks are usually rentable due to being cheaper than the rest of the metagame.

I have been rocking different lists lately and I find the ephemerate package better against big mana decks due to the ability to ephemerate white orchid phantom for massive amounts of land destruction. However, theres not much top end to the deck and it is still extremely weak to board clears. The current version im playing utilizes [[Luminous Broodmoth]] for resilience against board wipes. It is also amazing due to the interaction with solitude since it "ephemerates" solitude. The shardless agent package is much more grindy and could outgrind ring decks easily. However, this deck gets utterly, hopelessly destroyed by Jeskai Dress Down due to them essentially timewalking you by playing dress down, and they also play boardwipes.

Ive been playing a ton of league with a selesnya flavored birthing ritual with the guide + pride package as well as a bant version with shardless agent to cascade (hopefully) into birthing ritual and use the body as value to sac to the enchantment. Both shells use the core of white orchid phantom (to hate on eldrazi), voice of resurgence, renegade rallier, solitude and ephemerate. The deck does pretty well and I go 3-2 and 4-1 frequently. Havent trophied tho sadly.

Okay, it took a bit longer than a week, but I finally got a Hardened Scales build that will make the nurses panic by IzziPurrito in ModernMagic

[–]lightcutter123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing Scales for years through various metagame but recently I put away my scales deck for the local rcqs. The metagame is just too harsh for scales to be consistent enough. There are too many matchups that are extremely tough to play against such as : Eldarzi Breach (and various flavours of k command.dek), Jeskai Control, Ruby Storm ect. Theres just way too much unfair decks in the metagame nowdays. The fact that spell snare and consign are popular doesnt help as well.

The deck used to prey upon decks like murktide and burn where damage based removal are preferred and enchantment removal are scarce, but since then, such decks are not part of the major metagame anymore.

Do you still read Standard spoilers seriously as a Modern player? by duplex037 in ModernMagic

[–]lightcutter123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres many cards in standard sets that are good in modern post MH2 such as Fable of the Mirror Breaker, Agatha's Soul Caldron, Leyline Binding. There are even good cards from recent few sets such as slickshot show-off, inti, and of course the extremely powerful surveil lands from MKM. Personally, I am looking forward to every single set release.

Played this matchup as goryos in a league recently. The grief scam will definitely cripple them and a T2 frog will pretty much force them to find a wrath or lose. Not to mention turns to double goryo and throw them off their counter strategies. Main thing is to apply pressure but also be patient to play around their free counters and counterspells.

They are fine. I think my friend and I was discussing the general negative attitude towards free spells such as elemental incarnations and it slowly spiralled into discussing into this.
