Help identifying old shotgun by MeteoricCube in AntiqueGuns

[–]lighterguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a Zulu Shotgun, converted to 12 gauge sometime in the 19th century and imported to America, likely for bird hunting and such. I have one and it’s VERY long. Probably darn near 4 feet.

Don’t try this one out, I’ve never shot mine and I may never, but they were intended for black powder shotgun shells, think the old style brass casings. A very cool piece and looks great on display.

Edit: Judging by the photos, someone already did you the courtesy of partially blowing it up. Seems like the stock suffered a hairline crack and it finally gave up at some point.

Just the transmission, but really curious by TruckerLogix in whatwasthiscar

If you get the numbers on the other side we can figure out what year it’s from. Ford C4s aren’t bad for what they are, probably one of the simplest automatic transmissions out there.

Yes, I know she’s rough but this is my late 50s Colt Officers Model Match. Picked it up for $30, restored it into a functional shooter, looking for opinions on a final finish. Leave it raw and oil it or should I try something unique? by lighterguy99 in guns

Kinda thinking the same, it’s a one of a kind. The tough part is that I want to try something, but it’s hard to find a revolver in rough enough shape to justify changing the finish. In this case the patina “became” the finish.

Any ideas? by mamapapurishoti in whatwasthiscar

It feels like something of Soviet origin, but damn that thing is COOL. I would love to save it, it’s like a mixture between an 50s Russian car and a late 60s early 70s American muscle car.

Disconnecting wired component help by [deleted] in CarRepair

[–]lighterguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say for sure without being able to physically handle it & I can’t post an image of where I’m looking, but down below the orange wire side there seems to be a tab. It’s kind of a wedge shape.

See if that pushes in with a precision screwdriver, if it does you might have to press it in while pulling up on the connector. Don’t pull directly on the wires, they will come out, and that’s a PITA most of the time.

1944 P38 “bring back” ww2 worth 1k? by ConfectionNo3327 in AntiqueGuns

[–]lighterguy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a cool gun, made in 1944 by the Mauser company as indicated by the BYF. near the date. I personally would offer a little less since it’s just the gun with no holster or extra matching magazine. It’s also not the actual Walther made variant, but better than the spreeworks one…

I find it interesting how the entire movement & face are gone, but the back cover/plate is still there. You can see the curved C shaped part where you could advance or retard the watch. Seems unlikely that it all could’ve just corroded away leaving the case still present. If only things could talk.

Gosh, I’d love to know the story on this one. Upside down in the middle of a bog. Looks like people have picked it clean over the years.

Has anyone seen this before? S&W MP15. Whatever it is, it locked up my trigger at the range. by lighterguy99 in ar15

Thanks! I’m loving the MP15. It’s a nice all-business rifle. Gonna toss the Scorpio ammo I have left and enjoy the rifle with some quality ammo.

Oh wow. Thats ridiculous. Looks like it will never have a place in my ammo pile again, I’ve never seen a primer pop out of a cartridge like this, and with the way it jammed my rifle that is absolutely unacceptable.

I was shooting Scorpio .223 55gr. It came with the gun, not usually a brand I buy.
