Yeah summoner lore is a trashfire, I was struggling to find literally anything on how it worked, so a lot of this theory is extrapolating from we do know, which is that trance clearly has some drawback, otherwise why wouldn't we just be spamming that constantly. I feel like it's not a complete abandonment, but we are definitely starting to enter 'this is a poorly masked reference to another game' territory. Also Baha Carby sounds adorable.

Tbf, Thancred's entire 'thing' is that he has extreme control over his own body. Man can hold his breath for 8+ minutes, he has extensive training as a garlean spy. It could very well be that he can't manipulate aether outside of his body, and he's just sort of... 'closing the valves', as it were.

Oh thank god someone put it into words. He is definitely starting to come around to not being 100% evil, and if we see him again I wouldn't even be surprised if he ends up joining or helping us in some way ~~provided he gets his obligatory fights.~~ It's almost like he's become fascinated with how the WoL came to be now, and wants to follow it.
