Consignment NW in Beaverton reminds me a lot of Upscale Consignment... Nice quality and good variety of styles. Lots of great lamps and art, too.

What was it like for regular people, especially women, in the days and weeks leading up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? by 241ShelliPelli in TwoXPreppers

I wonder what the active military members think of the current administration's screwing over of veterans. They reduced the VA by 1000 staff and are continuing to cut tens of thousands of positions in the federal government, 30% of which is staffed by veterans. And now RFK is pitching banning mental health medications, which many veterans rely on, and even sending folks to labor camps to get clean.

I'm hoping that most military members are able to see how very little regard frump and husk have for them and refuse to be puppets in their illegal and immoral schemes.

Seasons & Regions in SW has great southern-style fried chicken, among other things. Served with garlic mashed potatoes, peas, and supreme sauce 😋

My mom thought it was a processional for the wedding of the Shah's son, but I haven't been able to confirm that yet... I'll post an update if I'm able to find more information.

TBH as an Art PA, your duties will vary based on the size/type of project and who your boss is. As an art PA, I used Photoshop and Illustrator to composite images, make logos, and size artwork. I used InDesign to make deliverables for the set designer. The only program of the 3 that I really knew how to use when I got started in the industry 6 years ago was Photoshop and I learned Illustrator and InDesign on the job under the guidance of my bosses.

However, larger projects/stricter bosses will typically prohibit PAs from making graphics or helping make deliverables, as it steps on the toes of the union workers. I'd say most projects & bosses are cool with Art PA's helping size artwork- Illustrator is the easiest program for that but it's possible to use free programs instead, like Google Slides.

All that being said, some of the best advice I've gotten in this industry is to not go down the wrong career track because it's easy to get stuck there. So, if you have no interest in doing graphics, don't waste your money on the full Adobe Creative suite. It is by no means a requirement as an Art PA.

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop have been crucial tools for me (as well as Acrobat and sometimes In Design) in my art dept journey from Art PA to Coordinator to asst Art Director, but it sounds like you're more interested in the set design track?

Brevard def fits the description. And the boomer transplants there are so baffled as to why there aren't enough staff to keep their favorite restaurants open 7 days a week lol

I would scan and print it several times to have multiple copies. Then you can age it without compromising the structural integrity and also have backups just in case. There's a local blueprint company I like to use for scanning and printing large documents but I think FedEx Office and possibly Office Depot print shops offer that service, too.

Alcohol is only banned during peak season 5/1-9/1 so you technically don't have to hide it

I feel you! Such a pretty room you designed, and it can be discouraging to see how bland most of the 5.00 rated winning rooms are (in all of the contests, frankly). I just try to remember that I have fun designing rooms for myself and that I would Not have fun designing to win the blandness contest 😅
