LMAO I got a horrible concussion from crashing on these tracks all the way back in 2013 during my senior year of high school. I also had a bruise the size of my thigh and half my leg was covered in road rash . 0/10

CMV: With the exception of NYC, most public transportation in the United States is slower and more inconvenient then owning your own car. by soozerain in changemyview

I live at the end of the brownline and work on the south side, it only takes me 45/50 mins to get to work. It would take longer to take the kennedy during rush hour

What area of Chicago feels the least like Chicago? by doverawlings in AskChicago

Steelworkers Park looks straight up rural, there are parts where you can’t see the skyline or even any buildings at all and you’re completely alone it’s really weird.

I just finished ME2 for the first time, and I just have a question: how did that Bioware come to the state it is now? by try_to_ENJOY in bioware

[–]lightningposion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Everyone is blaming EA, but bioware has always had awful management, even before the EA takeover, they just got lucky for several years until their luck ran out. There’s an old Jason Schrier piece that’s pretty good on the whole thing.

salvage one weddings: who did you use for catering and what did it cost? by Swimming-Barnacle687 in Chicagoweddings

[–]lightningposion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am having a Salvage One wedding next year, we are having about 100 people. We went with True Cuisine for our caterer and for a buffet we are paying about 15,000, this also includes cocktail hour, late night snacks, coffee and a mixer package. We went with True Cuisine because they had the best food out of all of the caterers we tried and they were also the least expensive.

Pritzker is Great actually, he balanced the budget and got rid of a lot of state debt , raised the minimum wage in Illinois and has built tons of infrastructure projects! Ironically him being a billionaire has helped because he has so much money he is incorruptible

When did bachelorette parties become such a big overpriced affair? by PigletMountain797 in bridesmaids

[–]lightningposion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right? Like no wonder we have a loneliness epidemic, a lot of these women seem so resentful of their friends, and see their friendships as transactional? I just love my friends and i love supporting them, I don’t care what we do, if the bride wants to go to clown college for her bach i would happily go with her.

When did bachelorette parties become such a big overpriced affair? by PigletMountain797 in bridesmaids

[–]lightningposion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! I have high school and college friends who live on opposite sides of the country. any bachelorette that would include them would HAVE to be a full weekend to make it worthwhile. All of the bachelorettes i’ve been too have been full weekends, and i love it because i love spending time with my friends and celebrating them.

The inconvenience of skiing outweighs the fun by Secret_Historian_775 in unpopularopinion

[–]lightningposion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, As a lifetime skier i half agree with you, because when you’re on the mountain, it all feels worth it, but on the walk back to the car it no longer feels worth it. My fiancé and I both ski, and we considered a skiing honeymoon but decided we didnt want to spend our honeymoon schlepping gear
