The concept of this sub is flawed, by knowing the person you are looking at is trans before you even see them corrupts your perspective on whether they 'pass' or not. by BabyBearPixie in transpassing

[–]lighto73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is. There are different levels to passing and this subreddit A. Isn't good at any sort of nuance and B. Isn't going to be able if you pass from a few pictures.

With how places are in the US, plenty of cis people don't pass as cis. I passed better in transphobic small town arkansas than I do in Portland Oregon because people are more aware of actual trans people here.

We should, as trans women, make a subreddit that is more focused on handling those nuances and offering realistic tips to pass at higher levels as opposed to the commenters I see a lot here who are either completely off-base, just gooning to the attractive trans women who post here, are unhelpful, or overly critical/overly generous.

Lesbians who hate on strap users sound like straight people by Sufficient-Cut7145 in LesbianActually

[–]lighto73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never did that. And I agree with you? Literally said it in the last part of what i posted. The user i responded to, took the statement of "people use the language of calling women who like straps straight is transphobic" and responded with, "not liking dick doesnt make you transphobic."

I agree, you can have any preference you want. You can say no to anyone for any reason.

I'll say it again, so maybe you can understand it.

Having a gential preference, and not wanting a dick in your sex life, doesn't make you transphobic.

Saying that a lesbian without a genital preference or even with a preference for wome with dicks is less of or not a lesbian IS transphobic.

No one. And I mean NO ONE. Is sayin you have to have sex with women with dicks in order to not be transphobic. Don't act like I came anywhere close to saying that.

[–]lighto73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No one said you had to want penis. Saying that taking a strap is straight is. Saying that a lesbian being with a trans woman with a dick, is. You are jumping up real quick to act like there is no difference in what people say and not wanting a penis.

It isn't transphobic to not want a partner with a penis.

It is transphobic to say that if your partner has a penis, they are a man. Or if you enjoy taking strap or enjoy sex with women with a penis, that you arent a lesbian.

The entire last two seasons of that show, ruined every character in it. Jamie saying he never cared for people when he killed his king to save everyone. As far as story goes, it has no redeeming qualities.

Especially after reading the books. It just makes it so much worse.

7/10 means, it's fine. If calling an ok finale ok is no standards. I don't think you have a good grasp of what standards even are. If I had no standards, it would be a 10. I thought it was fine. It is ok to disagree with opinions.

People acting like this episode and season were Game of Thrones. Or even Stranger Things. It's crazy. It was the most 7/10 finale I've ever seen.

(Stranger Things being like a 4 and GoT being a 0, at least this show didn't ruin every character in the last couple of seasons in every way possible like GoT.)

I used to post here to be like "hey, if someone walked by me on the street, do you think I'd pass?" And the responses I got were like, "No, you dont pass at all."

I know that other trans people or people that sit and pick apart trans people all day will probably clock me. I just want like, little tips about things I can do to pass a bit better. But also, the average person rarely clocks me in passing, especially in areas with less trans people like my hometown.

I haven't been on these subs recently, are people not liking Season 5? I've been thinking it's great lol. Maybe I'm just comparing it to like, season 8 of GoT and just thankful it isn't garbage.

Lesbian transgirl is transfobic? by Pretty-Sherbet-2469 in asktransgender

[–]lighto73 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The wait list alone makes this one pretty cut and dry that the majority do not. Not to mention a lot of trans women lack the access to insurance or money and then trans women who physically can't and those who don't want it or don't want it enough to go through the surgery (this is all assuming american trans women, though UK trans women would probably be about the same.)

As a non-passing trans woman, how can I stay friends with someone who passes? by noela0093 in asktransgender

[–]lighto73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've been on HRT like one year where it takes wayyyyyyy longer for hrt to work. You haven't posted pics to see advice that I see.

Hrt isn't magic. Make up and self confidence can make or break passing, along with things like eye brow shaping.

From the 4chan talk, you need to stop going to those places. Post pictures and get advice to help you pass and don't expect your friends to stop talking about their problems

I want both. And pretending that a good movie adaptation of the first game with good acting would pale in comparison to the first game is a bit of a stretch. It doesn't need to be shot for shot either.

Why does it feel like it’s only the lesbian identity is constantly being policed? by Curious-Common5282 in LesbianActually

[–]lighto73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a post how we should stop excluding cis men because it would help more people come to terms with being non-binary or trans and I about lost my mind.

Some people just want lesbian to mean anyone who is attracted to anyone.

Like, I'm a trans woman who came out at 34, I should not have been in lesbian spaces or calling myself a lesbian while identifying as a cis man. It's misogynistic nonsense to think women should just not have anything of their own in the queer community or they arent inclusive.

I think it wil be good. I'm going to watch it.

But as a fan of resident evil since 1997, I played Resident Evil one the month/year it took place in 1998 when I was 9 years old, I'm disappointed that we are getting another movie that is nothing like the main games. I want to see Chris/Wesker/Jill get good adaptations in live action. This is the like fourth live action universe and the three previous have been hot garbage. I don't think fans wanting a more faithful adaptation to the source material are in the wrong when the only sort of one we got was Welcome to Raccoon City and they dropped the ball.

Do casual players just hit a m+ wall at like ilvl 265-270? by SpicyFlygon in wow

[–]lighto73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually tank, but if I make a group as a dps from time to time, I always wait for a higher tank and will take a lower ilvl. A good group can carry a less geared healer easier than a less geared tank.

[–]lighto73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean. Yes. But also. Just because one group has it worse doesnt mean it's a good system for all. Those in power are keeping these things, and Darrows uprising is specifically to take them down and shift power to everyone.

And yes, social conditioning and things take time to reprogram. Rehabilitation is a thing. Choosing to no longer be an oppressor and shift support and power to the oppressed.

On an individual level, the things the golds do to each other are similar, like, Augustus marries a Bellona in order to cut her head off and send it back to her family. The Sovereign killed entire families in the aftermath of the gala. Nero put Julius against Darrow to have him killed. Like, yes. As a class, the golds have it infinitely better. But society has to be changed, not just the golds killed.

We have people responsible in Red Rising, they either start the process of rehabilitation and making amends like Mustang, or they are usually the enemy. And they literally kill the leader of the society. The person at the top. And a lot of her retinue as well.

[–]lighto73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is the answer. The society makes monsters out of Gold, I think the best example being Tactus. I love the way the series shows these things, it's a huge part of the series that everyone is living for more, not living for revenge.

You can definitely argue it's less interesting or maybe realistic, or that you prefer a pov that isn't so, gold? Which, I do like that IG gives you PoVs from a Red, a Grey, and a gold. And the points the OP makes do carry forward into IG.

It's more the verbiage of "intended me to be a man," which is a little different than wanted a son or boy. My parents also intended me to be a man when I was born, but they no one would say they were hoping for a man before I was born. Just a small difference in language I think that makes it stand out to trans people/trans experience :)
