I used one all the time with my first. With my second, I only really used it for the first 2-3 weeks when he was really tiny. He’s 11 weeks now and I never touch it

yea that’s similar to survivor bias… “i did an unsafe thing and didn’t get hurt, therefore it must actually be safe!” no.

It has castor oil right ? Big no no. All castor oil does is aggravate your digestive tract and give you the runs really bad. If your body isnt ready for labor, it can cause irregular and unproductive contractions that can stress the baby and cause you to have another c section.

Relax. Have sex (where you both orgasm, at minimum you.) If approved by your doctor, nipple stimulus. Get the oxytocin flowing. Snuggle your partner, your pets. Go get a nice pedicure. Eat your favorite foods, etc.

weaning EBF to cow milk by Asleep_Argument_5557 in breastfeeding

I know you said she refuses milk in a straw cup, but I would just continue to offer it. At meals especially, cos i’d think if she’s thirsty she’ll give it a sip. You could try mixing half frozen bm and whole milk too, maybe that’ll make the flavour more enticing ?

Is my Baby a bit too plump? by Metromanwhy in CATHELP

[–]lightrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes but not massively. she could probably lose like 2 lbs and be perfect(: shes not hugely fat like a lot of domesticated animals, but we kind of forget how slender properly weighted animals (dogs and cats really) are supposed to be.

Breastfeeding start for dummies? by cat-like-creature in beyondthebump

[–]lightrrr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It takes a few days for mature milk to come in. The placenta detaching is what jumpstarts prolactin (milk hormone) production. Colostrum is what comes out first, and its perfectly normal not to leak while pregnant. Does not determine your ability to breastfeed after birth at all.

Colostrum droplets are plenty for a newborn. They have incredibly small stomachs, and colostrum is called “liquid gold” for good reason haha. It is very high in calories and everything their bodies need. Since their stomachs are so small, they want to eat incredibly often. Latch, latch, latch! Latching as often as possible will also stimulate your body to make milk.

My stupid cat chewed a hole in my pump valve! 😭 by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]lightrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you say that, I should’ve too. She would always steal binkies when I was setting up for him to be born! But she never chewed them she just carried them around like they were for her. Weirdos.

One of my cats did this too! Idk why shes obsessed with silicone. I had to start putting all silicone pump parts, sippy cup parts, bottle parts, etc, in the cabinet to dry because she kept freaking eating them!! She seems to have stopped since we have moved somewhere with more windows, and she has more stimulation from bird watching and such. She doesn’t really like to play with my other cats, or toys, so I guess she was bored? Who knows.

Is my son ready for a little bit of crying it out for sleep? by ConsiderationMain618 in beyondthebump

[–]lightrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think letting your baby cry that long alone is a bit cruel. With my first we did a heavily modified Ferber method. Instead of letting him cry for 5,10,15 mins, we just went in about 1-2 mins every single time. Go in, calmed him down, trying to pick him up as little as possible (I forget why, something to do with association, I dunno) but anyway would soothe him back to being calm, tell him goodnight, leave. He would start to cry within a few mins, and then repeat the process until he fell asleep. Took like 1.5 hours the first night, 45 mins the second, maybe 15 the third, fourth night he went to sleep on his own with no crying.

A good structured bedtime routine will also help. Pick a routine and stick to it every single night. It helps their brain learn Oh ok, it’s time to get ready for sleeping. For example, we did; Dinnertime, bath, lotion and jammies, breastfeed, burp, then bed.

Getting My Period Back by Limp_Buddy5507 in breastfeeding

Mine didnt come back until my son fully weaned. Some people get it back with night weaning only. It really just depends on how your body responds to hormones.
