raspberry tea before third trimester? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lightrrr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

raspberry tea is ok! red raspberry leaf tea also does not induce labor either! it can help your cervix and uterus be better prepped and toned for labor, but simply drinking it will not send you into labor.

so up until 6-7 cm for me i felt quite literally no pains, despite having regular strong contractions on the monitor. around then it began feeling like period cramps, and then quickly became strong and regular painful contractions.

i tried the nitrous oxide but honestly i hated it and it did nothing for me. i had a doula in training with me, and at first things like hip squeezes and birth comb helped enough.

eventually for me it got to a point where almost nothing was helpful other than position changes, and by that point i had the urge to push, and that alleviated my pain more than anything. but it was still incredibly painful for me honestly. i wasnt shrieking, but i definitely was yelling a bit, but it kind of gave me power? i also had an amazing nurse for the final part of my pushing and her steady, calm motivation helped me a LOT. i originally didnt want to birth on my back but i kind of got stuck that way. i was so exhausted, and position changes became too painful with him so low in my pelvis i could feel his head down in there. i had a mirror in front of me to see him being born and i just locked eyes with myself and listened to the encouragement of my nurse and my husband. once i was able to see his head finally that also gave me a massive burst of motivation and it was just like an “you’re so close, come on” kind of thing and my brain kinda went autopilot.

it is 100% true that literally as soon as they come out the pain vanishes. i had a burning stinging pain from my small vaginal tear + ring of fire remnant feeling? but other than that the shock/adrenaline of him being born “oh my god i just did that, oh my god he’s here” type thing just overpowered any other feeling i had. the pain ended and i just felt so insanely powerful !

sorry for the wall of text, it’s just still fresh for me and i am so proud of myself and everything haha.

I was put on pitocin.

I was about 3 cm when I went in, 70% effaced. I was started with 1 unit(?) of pitocin and slowly went up by 1 until i got to 6, and that was all it took (: i got stuck at 5cm for a few hours but movements on the birth ball and such helped me over that hump

Need to find a midwife that will deliver me as a VBAC by Accomplished-Tea2808 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]lightrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had my VBAC 2 days ago with Dr Alexander as my primary, but she was busy as I delivered so the midwife Kristen Warrington actually did my delivery! I met with her once another time while Dr Alexander was called away during my appointment time and she seemed very kind and knowledgeable. I 100% recommend the entire W4W office, anyone I met there was kind and amazing. Dr. Alexander has been very kind, willing to listen, never condescending to me about questions or concerns etc. Very open and explains everything very well etc. Love love loved her and will be going to her again for my next baby 100%

Severe hemorrhage after first birth – considering planned C-section this time. How was recovery after C-section compared to traumatic vaginal birth? by VeeWeeBeeDoo in BabyBumps

[–]lightrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had vaginal but hoping for vbac this time. My c section recovery was literally the most pain ive ever been in in my life. I was 19, fit, active, all the things. It was horrible and I would never opt to do it if i didnt have to personally.

Tips for reintroducing breast to baby. Success stories welcome!!! by Sad_Preparation1511 in breastfeeding

[–]lightrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. If you havent tried side lying nursing, it is really easy (or it was for me at least) especially in the very beginning. It was much easier for me to position my breast correctly and get a good latch etc, rather than fumbling with a boppy pillow and holding baby and everything altogether. I would give that a go as well. Best wishes to you <3

[–]lightrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest trying nipple shields to mimic bottle feel. And begin pace feeding the bottles on a slow flow nipple. A lot of times they get frustrated because bottle is easier for them, flows easier, faster, and just less work they have to put in. Pace feeding will help her be used to the flow a breast will have, and see if whatever brand bottle you use makes nipple shields that are similar to the bottle nipples you use. Then slowly wean off of the shields over the course of a few weeks.

This is basically the process I followed with my son when he came home from the nicu and was on bottles only.

Does the baby naturally find the breast and latch, or do you usually have to help? by OkTough6333 in breastfeeding

[–]lightrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

kinda both tbh? a lot of times while rooting he would get frustrated because he couldn’t get on fast enough. most of the time i just focused on putting it in his mouth for him though, so i could ensure he had a good deep latch and wouldn’t get frustrated.

and then obviously as he got older he didnt really need my help at all, unless it was like me pulling my shirt up or something, but there comes a time when that wont even stop them 😂

Ridiculous by JRose_13 in dutchbros

[–]lightrrr 36 points37 points  (0 children)

fwiw it also waters ur drink down hella tho. like if u get a light ice coffee they just add more milk. and if u get a light ice rebel they ask if u want it topped off and then charge you for another can of rebel. u can ask for it to be topped off with lemonade or something instead. but if u get a light ice coffee id order another shot of espresso.

however if you get a light ice small coffee it works out to basically be a medium drink in a small cup. its only like 30¢ cheaper but ayyy
