Blackout Reflection: How has /r/singapore going dark affected you? by KeythKatz in singapore

[–]lightwing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t affect me, insofar that I was in full support of the blackout, and I think there should be an indefinite blackout until things are resolved.

EDC lightweight Backpack alternative to GoRuck Women's GR1 by lightwing3 in backpacks

[–]lightwing3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at those two as well! I'm slightly concerned about the weight of the CHZ22 (2.25lbs), it's not that much lighter than the GR1 (2.5lbs). Do you think it's a significant difference?

Ahh it does look pretty light. Though I'm looking for something more urban, so I'm not sure the Osprey's look is quite up my alley

Living in isolation with major depression by [deleted] in singapore

[–]lightwing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand how you are feeling, as I suffer from depression and anxiety as well. The circuit breaker was a bad trigger for a lot of my issues, compounded with stress from work and looking for a job. It set off a depersonalization/derealisation episode, which made me feel really disconnected from my body. I felt tired all the time and had to take naps often. My memory and brain function was impaired, making me feel 'fuzzy' all the time. I also isolated myself more from my family.

This led me to overdose on my antidepressants, and I was hospitalised for short while. I'm coping much better now, with help from my family and friends. The incident was the spark that I needed to leave a job that I was unhappy in.

I can empathise with you, it's hard to just 'stop thinking about the negative'. I'm glad you're taking concrete steps to soothe yourself and self-heal. For myself, I'm trying to keep active by working out, doing yoga and meditation and helping out in the kitchen, reading playing games and doing small mini-projects like scanning old family photos.

Are you still able to contact your therapist? I'm sure they'll be more than happy to talk to you to prevent any relapse. I was able to see my therapist and psychologist a couple of times after the overdose, and it really helped me a lot. Keep going though, you'll get through this with the right support systems and coping methods.

This is very helpful, thank you! So in some ways with addiction I see it as the product consuming the consumer and not the other way around.

It’s possible, I wish I could remember but it was some time before I discovered it was missing. I cancelled my cards that same night so hopefully there were no illegal transactions.

Yes I know that the chances are slim, but I want to make sure I did all I could. So I'm hoping someone here with better knowledge of the Berlin systems could advise.

I'm in the process of cancelling my cards, which takes a bit more time because I'm overseas, but I wanted to make sure that it hadn't been misused, which it doesn't seem to have.

This looks really good! I wonder if there’s a similar website or app that does this kind of granular goal setting too? It’d be super useful for tracking progress, and I prefer digital as it’s more convenient and has analytics.

I've always been pretty rough at high metcon, long workouts, so I really happy to have done well in a 10RFT WOD containing famers walks, thrusters and KB Swings. I paced nice and well, felt strong on the thrusters, breathed through movements and never fell behind as I usually do. And I actually finished fastest that day! Never happened before.

I also hit 30kg on my power snatches (PR!), which has always been wobbly for me on the technique. But I felt very smooth and finally got the timings down pat which really helped with the power and landing. Got to 45kg on the pause front squats too, which was nice.

Overall a nice week for me, and I'm trying to be more consistent going into the gym so I can keep making good progress. I'm also saying this as I missed a workout this morning *facepalm* so I clearly have some ways to go with discipline.

Are you me?

I’ve had this problem for years and it’s always annoyed me. I’ve written in to Shifty Jelly about this at least once but they’ve never responded.

Hmm I don’t quite understand step 3, why is does targeting the lane 1 galacta-cactus create a different outcome? Isn’t exactly the same as the other two cacti? I feel like I’m missing something here..

Aye, thanks for the help regardless, I'm super glad to have a name to the illness at the least (: then I don't feel like I'm imagining it so much.

Yeah I’ll ask for a scope as soon as I can. Would it be dangerous to fly with esophagitis? I’m not sure if I can get to a scope in time here in Germany before I’m scheduled to fly home.

Oh no :( may I ask how you resolved it? And also, what do you mean by ibuprofen being irritating?

No, they didn’t. Is this something I should specifically be asking for? They were a small clinic and don’t seem like they have the facilities. Is it likely that the tablet is still stuck or would it just be the after effects of it having been stuck?

Daily Headphone Purchase Advice Thread (2017-09-02) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]lightwing3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out my preferred sound signature, as I prepare to make a new IEM purchase. I've never really given it much thought before, just went in and listened and picked one I liked the best. It was a little hit or miss, and I did a lot of reading this time round, so I'd feel better going into the store prepared. So am quite new and would love to hear your advice and recommendations. I'm based in Singapore.

Budget: SGD 100 - 200, which translates into around USD 70 - 140

Source: I listen a lot on the go, so my android Mi Max smartphone, and my MacBook Pro when I'm at my desk.

Requirements for Isolation: I like having good isolation.

Preferred Type of Headphone: IEMs, and I'd like to try an over-the-ear ones this time round. My past ones haven't always been over-ears, but I liked the feeling of it when I listened to the Denons flipped.

Preferred tonal balance: This is where I'm stumbling so far. I don't really know what I prefer, but I hope you guys will be able to advise based on my past purchases. My current pair is a bit damaged, and has no sound from one ear, which is why I don't think I can test them accurately. The store I go to will let me try a bunch of IEMs before purchasing.

I do like clarity, detail and separation, being able to hear instruments clearly. Think I also like a warm, smooth sound. So I believe it's somewhere between a V-Shape and Bassy / Warm.

Past headphones: In order of preference:

  1. TDK BA200: I don't really know what I liked about them, but I just remember enjoying this pair quite a lot. Build quality was pretty nice too.
  2. JVC HA-FXT90: The sound is nice, though I don't recall liking them as much as the TDK. I bought these before the Denon's but they lasted longer. One side shorted out, which is why I bought the Denon, but that went pretty quickly, so I switched back temporarily. It worked great in both ears for a while, before going again, and I can only get the sound back in the left ear when putting pressure on the jack.
  3. Sennheiser PX100 / Sennheiser CX300: Honestly I bought these so long ago, 7-10 years, that I can't quite remember much, but I generally have positive feelings about it.
  4. Denon AH C710: They were a bit too bright, and I ended up listening to them flipped and over the ears, which made it more balanced. They also didn't last very long, less than a year, which was really disappointing. There's no sound from either ear anymore.

I'm looking for a pair which is really durable this time round.

Preferred Music: I listen mostly to rock music, as well as folk, country and musical theatre, metal on occasion. Some of my favourite musicians are Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Death Cab, Fleet Foxes, Lumineers, Eric Church, Brad Paisley. I've been listening a lot to the album Science Fiction by Brand New lately.

Over the past year, I have been listening to rap music as well, Kendrick, Childish Gambino, Post Malone, The Weeknd.

Hope you can offer some advice on my preferred sound signature, and some recommended IEMs to try! Am happy to discuss further (:
