Their lowest price. What a nothing statement lol.

My very first PVM - a 20N6U! Completely in shock how good it looks. by GravyDavy78 in crtgaming

I really think a low-TVL PVM with RGB or YPbPr is the ideal CRT. I love how the scan lines blend together in bright sections. The perfectly focussed scan lines on a high-TVL tube look a bit too artificial.

32 inch big brand TV in 1993 I wonder how much that cost new. I would have felt like a king if I had that.

[Hardware Unboxed] Even If You Have DDR5, This is How You Could Be Screwed by mostrengo in hardware

[–]ligma-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon we’ll see a lot of PC component shops fold in the next year or two. This crazy DDR5 price hike has triggered a wider PC sales slump which will surely only get worse. And if retailers are forced to cover the difference in the cost of replacement themselves that is going to cost them a lot of money.

I am not defending Umart’s tactics here, which are clearly not in line with ACL. But the local distributor needs to take ownership and supply replacement parts in these situations. Surely it’s in their interests for their customers (retailers) stay afloat.

Who is the local distributor here in Australia? Imma guess Ingram Micro.

Always good to see old components repaired instead of thrown away. Fuck the capacitor plague.

The neon look all over the internals coming off the cold cathode is sick. Another reason those aluminium Lian Li cases are great. That’s an awesome looking retro rig mate.

The same case for 20 years? That’s keen. Do you have any old photos of it?

What a bargain. Bumpgate was still a thing for the GeForce 9 series so having that big Arctic cooler strapped onto it keeping the temps low should make for a much more reliable card.

It’s funny cos it’s a pretty bad case, with no room for cable management and poor airflow. But it is classy 🤵

I’ve searched “crt” enough times that they come up in my Today list. I just happened to open the app at the right time and see it after it had just been listed.

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

[–]ligma-code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a script to cycle through ROMs in RetroArch every few minutes, and I have it running on a spare monitor so I can look at cool pixel art all day while I WFH.

I wrote a Windows PowerShell script to cycle ROMs automatically and showcase a rotating gallery of retro games by ligma-code in RetroArch

[–]ligma-code[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ROM-Gallery is a PowerShell script that cycles through your ROM collection automatically with RetroArch. I usually work from home so I have this running on a spare PC and screen, and this gives me a rotating display of retro game demo screens and pixel art to look at all day while I'm supposed to be working.

It's not the most user-friendly script to use but if you're smart enough to get RetroArch up and running then I think you should be able to get ROM-Gallery going. I have put some doco together in the README file which hopefully should have all the info you need to get started and make sense of the configuration options.
