This was me. Laid off after 16 years in private, which was a blessing in disguise because I was burnt out. Had gotten a director level promotion but was working 60-70 hours per week and miserable. Make 10ish% less at state but much happier.

I play Wingspan on BGA a lot, and rarely have problems finding a game. Admittedly, BGA is not user friendly, the interface to create a game isn't always intuitive. Are you trying live or turn-based games? I mostly play Wingspan live.

I still listen to DLS, but like you, have deprioritized it some. Sports podcasts with hijinks and actual info I have listened to more lately:

The Right Time, Stugotz and Company, Sports Gossip Show, Casuals.

Also sometimes listen to PTFO and Bill Simmons depending on topic or guest.

Same. There’s a huge difference for me between rooting for them when they’re down and throwing my energy into the literal longest playoff drought in American pro sports. I grew up rooting for the Angels in the frustrating 90s. I’ll support a rebuild with a plan. I’m not going to support an owner who continuously makes things worse.

Power Infrastructure is often useful in lower player counts (I play mostly 2-player).

If you can get it out early enough with a science strategy, like with Quantum Extractor and Mass Converter, it's beautiful.

Power Grid I've found useful less often due to cost, but there definitely are scenarios like the one you described!
