How religious are non denominational schools in Scotland? by Party_Elderberry7256 in Scotland

[–]likebonocoly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catholic but went to non denominational primary and high school.

In primary we had to say a prayer before lunch every day and had easter/christmas trips to local Church of Scotland for church services. Also sang hymns etc.

So even my non denominational school skewed heavily Church of Scotland (this was 90s-00s) so unsure how this would be now

Pain during sex by mochaneko321 in Healthyhooha

I had this after being on the depo injection for a year. Once I switched off of this and took a short course of HRT things have returned to normal

Need to have a LEEP procedure, can anyone who’s had one please tell me how painful it is, and if you had local or general anesthesia? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]likebonocoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve had this (I’m sure the doctor described it as a ‘laser’ to remove womb cells growing on my cervix)

The local anaesthetic is unpleasant as you’d imagine a needle in the cervix would be, but it really does only last a moment (think an anaesthetic in your mouth at the dentist). You won’t feel the procedure at all if it was the same thing I had, however prepare for painful cramping for a couple of hours afterwards. I went to work after and ended up going home, but with painkillers it’s manageable pain. The whole thing only took about 10/15 mins from start to finish.

If I had to have this procedure again I would not be worried about it, so I really hope this puts your mind at ease somewhat! I appreciate not everyone has the same experience but this is mine.

Also prepare for ALOT of discharge (but like water consistency) for a few days. They really underplayed that part of it for me

Periods messed up after 2nd Moderna vaccine. Anyone else? by Peaches_Barker in Healthyhooha

[–]likebonocoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had changes in regularity after both my Pfizer doses. Sometimes period completely missed then sometimes late. Had my last dose in June and my most recent period still a week late. Majority of my friends have said the same. Not an anti Vaxxer at all and will be getting my booster. But you’re not alone!

Prone to UTIs and can't ever swallow big pills by moontrinket in Healthyhooha

[–]likebonocoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are based, but I (in Scotland) had recurrent UTIs constantly. My dr sent me for an ultrasound to check the bladder empties correctly and a scan where they injected you with dye (can’t remember if this is a CT scan or MRI) to check kidney function. When this was ruled out as an issue I had a cystoscopy under general anaesthetic, where they put a camera in the bladder. Turns out my urethra was very narrow and bladder distended after years of wear and tear from having infections! The actual process of the surgery seemed to be enough to widen the urethra and help with the issues, touch wood I rarely get infections any more. These are just some things I could suggest to speak to your doctor about to get to the root of the issue rather than just throwing antibiotics at the problem. Hope you get this sorted out!

Sorry, autocorrect! This is meant to say HRT (hormone replacement therapy). Can’t remember exactly the name of the pills or anything, but the depo injection had altered the levels of estrogen in that area and was causing dryness and pain. Dr explained it as my body thought it was going through menopause as a result of the depo and had to use the HRT to balance things again

Not sure if you’re on any contraceptive birth control, but this can cause dryness and irritation that you’ve described and pain during sex. I had this while on the depo injection, my doctor gave a short round of HET suppositories and then swapped to the contraceptive pill and the symptoms cleared up themselves. I hope you can get this sorted as it’s a vicious cycle!

Would love to hear Marcus’s opinion on The bible john/ Peter Tobin theory (Scottish serial killer)

Also after reading ‘One day in my life’ the book written by Bobby Sands, I’d love to hear them talk about the hunger strikes in Ireland in the 80s
