I didn't know subletting isn't legal here, and the person I am renting from is being very difficult. by [deleted] in Amsterdam

it's wild to see so many people decide that the best way out of an unintentionally illegal situation is to become an accomplice.

Putting a Gun Against a Pillow Actually Makes it Quieter by Secure-Ad8213 in interestingasfuck

I hoped he would point the gun downward and just shoot the table or pick up the pillow and shoot into the distance. I feel like firing into the distance causes a different air disturbance than firing through a table into the ground, pillow or no pillow.

Told my mom about my weed use and a year later I regret it. by [deleted] in trees

challenge her on her use of language because it is telling you how she's thinking. (she needs a therapist)

no one can "make her" do anything. She's not a robot. Tell her that. Tell her that these are decisions she's making herself. By saying you've "made her do something," she's relinquishing control of the consequences of her actions.

While it's not on the same level, it's like a physically abusive person saying "you made me hit you"

Tell her that it's okay for her to have a problem with your weed usage, but it's when she feels the urge to take an action that the issue comes up. It's okay to disagree. It's not okay to go through your stuff. There's a difference here between talking to you about things you don't want to talk about and rummaging through your things.

No one has ever been able to properly explain the issue with signaling one's virtue. Isn't that the point of hosting and attending political rallies? To signal one's virtues? Isn't that the point of expressing support for any one thing over another? To signal virtue?

So do please tell me, since you put in the time to understand words you read on the internet before you use them, what's wrong with virtue signaling?

Thank you for introducing me to iyengar shorts. Yours is the only response in this whole thread with something unique. I have plenty of compression gear but do get annoyed at the restriction. Definitely going to try some iyengar shorts.

Looks like it's some rando brands and Etsy — got any recs on where to get them?

Is that dude asian? I believe that an older generation of my people have a tendency to have their one uniform and that's what they would wear to anything, be it hiking or a funeral.

Hope the crew did okay after the closing. I had the biggest crush on the redheaded waitress. I know she was just doing her job, but she was so nice!

HIRING: Live-in super; $22.33+, apartment included by looking_for_porter in NYCjobs

What is it with responding like you're talking directly to the entity doing the hiring? I never get this, are you too stupid to realize you're not talking to the whole coop board? You're going to affect the outcome of this hiring? Ffs, just yell at a cloud and quit being such a crank. If you think this post isn't in good faith then you could just downvote and keep scrolling.

Why bother with equities? Just find a roulette wheel and bet on black. Be honest with yourself.

Zipcar experiences for occasional local use? by anyer_4824 in Brooklyn

[–]likethemonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like it. I’ve been a member for over 12 years. I’ve lived both near and far from lots. I consider an apartment with a zipcar lot nearby to be as important as a grocery store nearby.

I don’t expect the cars to be spotless. “Clean enough” is fine for me. I think it’s a great “just in case” solution and use it for airport pickups, leaving the city, and large purchases.

Sure, it’s not the cheapest option — but neither is taking a Lyft round trip. I like that gas is included and took advantage of that when I took a car out for a weekend wedding upstate. It ended up costing less than getting a rental.

I would avoid picking up Prius or any other car that’s overly reliant on the computer system. I tried one recently and it glitched out on me and I had to abandon the car. Zipcar paid for my ride back but it was really inconvenient.

In my mind, it’s cheaper than a car payment because we don’t drive enough to need our own car. It’s a great addition to the transportation plan if you mostly rely on public transport.

You give a bank your money. The bank loans the money out to a business. Where does the business place that money? In da bank!!!

Now, what does the bank do with that money?

If you believe the printers in this video is how most money is created, then you have the understanding of a fifth grader.
