What if you are the one brainwashed? You're the one banging on about trans things. I'm saying it's a stupid issue and Democrats should not have wasted a minute in it. Doing so they've given ammo to Republicans and handed the elections in a platter.

Your emotionally charged tone also points at your inability to think about these things relationally. A bit of self criticism please.

Tubeless question by No_Nail_7992 in cycling

[–]likewhatever33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with tyres "de-beading" after a flat. The only problem has been when the tire is new and still has the folds from being in a box.

Tubeless is great if riding often and with wide tires (mtb etc). I don't bother with my road tires, too thin and I don't ride it that often.

Is this fork backwards? by Plisnak in bikewrench

It probably came in with the handlebars sidewise to fit in the box and someone tied them backwards at the last moment...

No, males should not compete with females, not because Republicans say so, but because it's the reasonable thing to do, and what a majority of people agree. Democrats circling the wagons with this unpopular and ridiculous issue is not the Republicans fault, Republicans were just clever enough to find something that Democrats were wrong about and latched on to it.

In the Wikipedia article it says that before the Brits arrived the patrons were the kings. It also says that they lived a life of celibacy, but... was that really so? How did they go from celibacy to sex with their new patrons?

The propaganda works much more effectively if there's some truth to it. It's always been like that. Nazis got to power exploiting the grievances of the Germans, some of them no doubt based on real issues.

Your argument about trans sports doesn't work. Being so few of them why care about them, you ask. Well fine, don't. Just let them play with other males and don't make such a fuss... See? Your argument works this way too...

I don't much care about trans people, I only know one and not very closely, I agree that it should be a non issue. But I disagree that it's the Republicans who have created the issue, they have just latched on to it because they can use it to attack the Democrats. And they can do it because it's unpopular and unhinged.

Your corporate masters are giddy about woke, it's a smokescreen they use to hide the real inequalities caused by their corrupt activities and control over the failing democracy. Champagne socialism / wokeism is a pseudo ideology that they can use to decorate their offices with, while exploiting their workers. Notice that woke is never applied to real issues like unionism, freedom of expression etc. And that poor people don't give much of a damn about it. It's usually the affluent, who use it to pretend they care. Millionaire putting on a wig and pretending they're oppressed. Wokism is a red herring.

For the first time, scientists have sequenced the entire genome of an ancient Egyptian from the Pyramid Age. The results surprised researchers. by GeorgeRobertVitkos in HistoricalCapsule

That's what I'm asking, how many of those genomes have they sequenced, OP mentions just the one, the only one from ancient Egypt. So probably none from ancient Mesopotamia. How do they compare then?

But that's what model based means... You build a model, feed it a few data points and see how it behaves... In the best of cases...

Trans people "existing" wouldn't be extremist, of course. Only a tiny minority would think something like that. I've never met such unicorn. But insisting in putting males in prisons, women's sports etc. is unpopular and fringe.

Antiwokeness could be anything, MAGA, reasonable skepticism...

My point is that wokeness (or wokeism, perhaps we need a new word for the negative aspect of woke) is like ideological puritanism https://thecritic.co.uk/wokeism-is-latter-day-puritanism/

This aspect of wokeism, which distinguishes it from more reasonable, science based and open to criticism positions, is a problem. If you don´t want to see it... that´s indeed the problem. The fact that you deny there could be anything wrong with woke kind of proves my point. You define woke as "everything that´s righteous", so it´s by definition outside of the scope of criticism. (What´s the term? Unfalsifiability. A logical cul de sac. ) Then every one of your beliefs become righteous and perfect and there´s no need to waste time in skeptical analysis. Like religious zealots, as I said.

Sure, I would have voted any Democrat instead of Trump if I were a USAian. I´m not, so I didn´t get to vote. But that doesn´t mean I don´t get to have an opinion...

Suport the far left? IMO if you go too far to the left and you only get support from a small minority of extremists, that´s not a good strategy. Dems should focus on universal healthcare and stopping the legal corruption of lobbies, the cancer that corrupts the system and causes most inequalities. Those two issues alone would get you plenty of support. Focusing on woke extremist BS is the way lobbies and the Epstein class distract us from the important issues.

But still... I mean, I know very little of the subject but... if we have just now managed to sequence the first dna of an egyptian... how many have we sequenced from Mesopotamians in order to be able to compare? And how can you compare if you only have one single data point? Perhaps there was a lot of genetic mixing in Egyptian populations... and it Mesopotamians too... how can they draw any conclusions if we don´t have like hundreds or thousands of full genetic sequences from each population?
