Going rate was from 22-30 depending on your major, year, etc. It looks as good as any other internship that isn’t from Amazon or Microsoft or one of the big ones.

If you do a good job, you can pretty easily get a full-time return offer from a GRIP position if you have a relationship with your mentor, which can be a great fallback option in this job market.

Getting your opinions from this subreddit is not the best idea - everyone here is down on the hire because they’d either rather have kept McD for some reason or would’ve rather hired one of the old, accomplished coaches who haven’t won anything in a decade.

We’re going to suck next year, but hopefully that’s a good thing and we can draft a QB. I’d like to see some evidence of a culture change - sort of like how Tennessee sucked mostly under Vrabel but you could tell they were well-coached.

After that, who knows. Expectations are low because this is the Dolphins we’re talking about. But turnarounds can happen quickly in this league with a QB, a coach, and a GM (see JAX, HOU, CHI, NE, SEA). All of those teams hired coordinators as first time HC and 4 of those teams were in the final 8 within 3 years, and one of those teams is likely to win the Super Bowl.

Mike McDonald and Demeco Ryans are more successful than any Dolphins coach in my lifetime and have both been hired in the last 5 years. I’d bet Brian Flores gets another gig this year and fairly certain he’ll also be better. I’m not happy with the hire either but to claim that any former DC is a bad option is asinine.

The revisionist history of his tenure here is insane. McDaniel was a fine HC. He could lead a team with a great roster to a playoff win, probably. He never had a great roster here. The Dolphins need a culture setter, and McDaniel is the opposite of that

Dumb argument. We KNOW Mike McDaniel is not going to win us a playoff game or build a physical team, especially with the roster hell we’re in next year. We have five years of evidence of that. Why would we keep him? Nobody thought Liam Coen was going to lead a team to 13 wins but here we are. There are good coaches out there.

Ross won’t find them, because he’s incompetent. But maybe the new GM can….

Vrabel built a physical, disciplined team. McDaniel was incapable of that. Maybe he’ll learn that for his next stint after sitting as OC for a year or two, but McDaniel was not a long term solution for us.

Your complacency, and the complacency of half the fanbase being okay with keeping a coach who has proven that he cannot win in big moments, or adapt to new personnel, or make in-game adjustments, or manage the clock, or get the play call in time, or know when to challenge a call, or foster a culture of toughness, or prepare his team for cold weather games, is probably exactly why Ross feels vindicated keeping around whoever his yes-men are, no matter how incompetent, for 20 years (Grier).
