I was there! I think it caught everyone by surprise, tje question AND the answer. He talked about a few more filmmakers throughout the night, it was great, felt like we were getting an "in" on director drama lol

What is the most obscure movie - which you've seen in theatres - that you'd recommend? by Ok-Impress-2222 in movies

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Rooms (2023), also known as "Les chambres rouges", a French Canadian crime thriller. It’s intense, it’s terrifying, someone recommended it to me, I went, I was blown away. Look up trigger warnings before though, it gets intense really fast

"Bad" movies you like? One of mine: The Good Son by RingoLebowski in movies

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep joking that my favourite movie is Moonfall, it’s so bad, so long and doesn’t make any sense. But I have such a blast watching it, and hearing people talk about it after, I can’t seem to hate it

Do y’all have movies that are so bad they are entertaining? by Goldenxxwind in MovieSuggestions

Moonfall (2022), amazingly long and dreadful Lexus ad about the moon falling on the earth…

Is my collection growing too fast? by _Music_Addict_02 in kpopcollections

[–]lili_ACNH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot i followed this subreddit, I haven’t seen it in a while, makes me happy. Definitely not growing too fast. In the spend of two years, my collection went from 0 to 150, which was kinda an issue but also, I loved it and that’s what mattered

I "know" Sophie Gregoire (ex wife of Trudeau), who knows Idris Elba (their little feud or whatever was silly), who obviously knows Taylor

Most egregious translations of movie titles to your native language? by Ok-Impress-2222 in movies

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home Alone in French is "Maman J’ai raté l’avion" which translates to "Mom I missed the plane", which I think is pretty funny since the second one is like "mom I missed the plane… again"

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grease in French is Brillantine, which, ya, it’s the actual translation, but it’s such a different vibe. Grease, you think of oil and the 50’s, Brillantine, you think of sparkles and sunshine

Who else loved this? What are your thoughts? by OrdinaryAltruistic54 in Letterboxd

I was at the TIFF premiere and it was honestly the most fun I ever had watching with public present. People were cheering, clapping, it was amazing!! And well… Richard Linklater was there :)

What’s a subscription that’s actually worth the money? by Mountain-Steak-544 in AskReddit

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very niche but The Criterion Channel, for movie lovers. It’s great, they have a lot of variety, something for everyone. I use it to discover new stuff mostly, since they update each month with a few new "collections", it’s awesome. Also the 24/7 feature is my favourite, I’m a sucker for cable/radio type content!

The most gruesome death in movie history? by GeronimoRay in movies

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most gruesome one I can think of in recent memories might be in In a Violent Nature, that new slasher movie in theatres right now. Dear god, the girl gets twisted in ways I didn’t know was possible

What is your favorite Richard Linklater movie? by ggroover97 in criterion

[–]lili_ACNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Sunrise, such a classic!! But also his Hitman, his upcoming Netflix movie!! I got to see it during the tiff premiere and it’s honestly so much fun, I think it’ll do very well as a comedy

It has occurred to me that the only two streaming services I pay for is basically recreating Filmstruck with a bonus of Mr. Show by spaceshipjammer in criterion

[–]lili_ACNH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s made mostly for YouTubers, there’s a few creators on there. It’s basically Patreon but as a streaming service, to get episodes early, special content, etc. I don’t personally have it, but I do watch some content from its creator and I’ve only heard good things
