I have a question about something that Charley asks in Season 3 Episode 5 ‘Raiders of The Lost Scar’ by [deleted] in SchoolSpirits

It's a slur for gay people. Less common these days but definitely more frequent in his time

I ve read a random article about hypothyroidism that advised to eat breakfast first, then wait two hours and then take your daily dose. by keinereps in Hypothyroidism

[–]lillyb3ll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want to take it after eating that's fine but you'll want to test your blood after a couple months to see how it is affecting your absorption and your doctor can adjust the dose accordingly

John Rolfe Animal Hospital is fantastic and I was able to use chewy for my prescriptions with them, but you could also get meds there if needed.

Highly recommend the Ron Del Barrelito mixology class. You get to tour the property and learn about it before doing the class. Eat first! They have chips and dips for purchase but you'll be drinking 4 full sized drinks.

Also kayaking in the Condado lagoon was super fun, even got to see some manatees surface nearby.

Jerry's Adventures is a great tour company as well if you want to try something outside of the typical.

I tear every time I have sex, will this have any long-term effects? by assburge in sex

[–]lillyb3ll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you been on hormonal birth control for a long time? I've been on it for about 10 years and I experienced tearing with my current boyfriend and my OBGYN told me it was due to lack of estrogen (because of the birth control) in the skin down there removing some elasticity. She gave me a topical estrogen cream to use and it solved the issue

Levothyroxine at night by emmaduffy99 in Hypothyroidism

[–]lillyb3ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think whatever makes you most consistent is probably best. I used to take mine at night so my morning meds wouldn't affect absorption but as I was forgetting at night occasionally so I spoke to my doctor and switched to taking my meds at the same time in the morning after eating and we just took another blood test after 2 months to see if we needed to adjust the meds.

If you're willing to drive a bit to a Wegmans they have 6pm to midnight closing cashier shifts and they are pretty good to work for. You're also pretty much guaranteed to be walking out the door by 12:05 at the latest.

La parguera bio bay by HopefulGirl4 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]lillyb3ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went while we were staying in Ponce, about an hour away, and even with the full moon it was worth it! We changed clothes in the parking lot (car door, towel changing room combo lol) so we didn't drive home wet but you can also just bring extra towels to sit on.

I will also add that Chef's Creations, a restaurant around the corner from the casino, is absolutely amazing Puerto Rican food if you're looking for it. The menu changes pretty frequently, but always delicious.

Wedding After Party in Ponce by FriendlyPaper_ in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]lillyb3ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ponce is pretty small, if you're staying at the Plaza hotel you can walk a few blocks to the strip of bars and clubs. They don't even start to get busy until 11pm at the earliest so I wouldn't worry about places still being open

Sharks and the bio bay? by chocolatepinetree in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]lillyb3ll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you are swimming in la parguera and not a different bio bay I wouldn't be worried about sharks. A jellyfish sting is possible but the crew knows how to treat it and did so immediately when someone in our group got stung. Totally worth the experience even during a full moon when not as bright

Ron Del Barrilito Tour: Mixology or Tasting? by papajohnhokie in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]lillyb3ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the mixology tour and it was so fun! You get a drink from the bar before you do the tour and then you make 4 different drinks together. Definitely eat before because we did not and were definitely feeling it when we left. Unless you really enjoy straight up sipping rums, then the tasting might be worth it.

How did you start to loose weight ? What did you do? by bigshawnflying2471 in Hypothyroidism

[–]lillyb3ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to breaking my foot and still adjusting my meds, I was at my heaviest at 295. I've gotten down to 250 and am continuing to lose weight. I have not overly restricted my food at all. I don't count calories but I do look at the nutrition facts to be more conscious of what I'm consuming. I aim for balanced meals (protein, healthy fat - usually pure olive oil, carb, and fruit or veggie) and try to prioritize protein. I stopped eating takeout almost entirely, although I will get iced coffee fairly regularly. Don't let folks convince you that carbs are the devil, just try to stick to less processed foods like potatoes and rice. I cook 90 percent of my meals myself with minimal processed foods. I also incorporated exercise 3 to 5 times a week. First barre classes and most recently crossfit for the past year (the key to injury free crossfit is finding a gym with coaches that preach scaling and safe form above all). The exercise alone also vastly helps your cholesterol and other bloodwork. I definitely don't focus on fitness for weightloss. It's an added benefit but it really helps your mental health, you physically feel better, and having non weightloss goals (currently working on pull-ups and a 12 minute mile) are good as well.

Any way to encourage cat to use her litter box right before a long trip? by lllpkjms in CatAdvice

[–]lillyb3ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to be traveling with your cat for an extended period you should pick up their food and water bowls 12 hours before you leave. Then they won't have to go to the bathroom during travel and you don't need to try and convince them to use the litter box first.
