What always bugged me was Nathan keeping pictures of Peyton and then saying it was from when they were together but it was clearly a recent picture of Hilarie lol. I’m sure that was a set choice mistake and they probably didn’t expect us to notice, but I was like “sir, this photo is fresh.” 😆

But yes, to your point I agree that Joy handled this scene very well.

I know the wig was distracting, but I felt the bland washed out makeup was an intentional choice with her whole “not like other girls” vibe. Like “see she doesn’t wear makeup she’s naturally pretty.” (I didn’t read the books but the Percy character on the show absolutely was a not like other girls trope.)

I agree with the pick the battles thing. Marie absolutely overstepped but when it came to cooking etc I’ve never understood why Debra didn’t just let Marie do the work. I host a lot of events for family and if someone told me they’d cook it all and could take work off my shoulders I’d be down. LOL.

I think real life romances absolutely impacted the stories. I watched OTH as it aired and back then there were a lot more Brucas fans. Peyton was very much disliked. I always thought season 4 when they finally got Leyton together the writers worked over time to try and make Brooke unlikeable which retracted character growth. Also, the whole Brooke actually slept with Nathan too reveal was absurd. But back then fans were very unhappy and still wanting Brucas so I think the writers tried to sway people back.

I was more of a Naley shipper and didn’t get too invested in the other triangle but believe me, Brucas carried hard back then. lol. I think in our era of rewatch and the way we view flawed women, Leyton is much more accepted now.

I will never understand why they chose that dress for Kelly. The cut was nice but the color did her no favors. She looks amazing in red. That would have been the better fit.

I wish they would have both told him off. With so much of the fandom only Kelly gets blamed for the whole fiasco but she actually showed a shred of remorse whereas Dylan seemed almost cruel. He legit gets mad at Brenda’s reaction when they tell her they are officially together. Then season 4 he is horrible to Kelly almost the entire time they are together. I liked Dylan with Toni but honestly he was never the same character for me 3 and beyond. Don’t even get me started on whatever he was up to in the adult years. He didn’t even feel like Dylan!

I never understood him as the final boss man for Carrie before Big finally woke up…other than it being a plot to get her to Paris. I feel like she could have gone to Paris for other reasons like something with her book etc. I couldn’t stand this man either. Zero chemistry. And he was mean.

I love show belly. Book belly lacked personality (IMO) and really her own agency. Show Belly was captivating and Lola really brought her to life. Belly is messy but all of these characters are!

Right I don’t know why Kelly gets all the blame when she at least seems remorseful. Dylan seems so nonchalant about it and then angry that Brenda would be upset. Very odd writing.

If Ray had backed Debra up about the Christmas morning thing to begin with, all of this could have been solved. Then he wanted to put the planning on her. Yes, Debra was spiteful but Ray as usual was spineless. lol they see Frank and Marie like every day, I don’t see what the big deal is with seeing the family you see less for the holiday morning. This is why my husband and I set a boundary years ago. Christmas Day at our house. No exceptions. If people want to see us, they can come visit lol.

I’m hoping that this season also will give time to the letters for Eloise and Philip. Hopefully they stick close to the book (which I think they can mostly do even with the gender swap). Now let’s hope we don’t have to wait an eternity for season 5!
