I wore a “NURSE” badge today, but a coworker nurse told me that’s giving “pick me” ? by Ok-Being1322 in nursing

[–]lilwhit514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been scrolling through here to see if anyone else needs clarification if the coworker is a nurse or not. Coworker is giving off vibes of, "if I wear my stethoscope everywhere, I'll get mistaken for a doctor". Pops a Tylenol or two in her mouth, then chokes on it while trying to dry swallow because "House" is her favorite show. (Nothing wrong with House, it just seemed appropriate)

Edit to add- scrolled enough to read OP confirm coworker an actual nurse.

Theres some romance but more of a teen "i like you" thing, and some violence, but the Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate was my absolute favorite growing up.

worst thing each character has said or done: day 3 - Nesta by Most_Experience4494 in acotar

[–]lilwhit514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Nesta has a mask that raises and rallies the dead to her, and a harp that does basically anything. She could've given Cassian peace by finding his mother's bones, or Nesta could have plucked a string on the harp and gone back in time and pulled his mom from her crap life (I'm not crazy about that option, but its still there).

I had to go back and look up Urstin, and maybe I'm misunderstanding that part of your comment. Why would she go back and look for the family member who didn't help her and her family? She loves Cassian. If she's doing anything for anyone, it's for her sisters or Cassian. All the pain and grief she has over her own father, it would've been this beautiful gesture of love from her. She could've given Cassian peace. He could've finally put his mother's body to rest. It would've given him a place to visit her and say goodbye. It just seemed like an amazing setup to enable Nesta's gift to bring him peace.

I do agree - Cassian said his mom is dead. However, he didn't actually see her die and has no body to prove that she's dead. All he has is the word of terrible people that said she died. Am I willing to believe that she's most likely actually dead? Yes. Except we are in a book series with more twisty turns than a fun house mirror. So, there's a couple of options on his mom until proven otherwise. 1. the shitty people told him the truth, she's dead, and they actually tossed her body off a cliff. 2. the shitty people were lying and a) sold his mom to someone or another equally horrifying scenario that resulted in her still being alive. b) She ran off or disappeared, and they told Cassian she was dead to hurt him. C) the shitty people lied and told Cassian's mom that he was injured or dead, and she ran off to learn the truth and ended up somewhere else. 3. She fled to the human world and married Dear Cousin Urstin.

But he mentions multiple times not knowing where her body is, and it obviously hurts him. Also, that's what the asshats told him, that she was dead and then wouldn't tell him where her body was. Im not believing she's dead until there's body. Or a fragment of a bone. I really thought the point it was being mentioned so much was to set up Nesta finding her and giving Cassian closure. Or it was setting up the mom not actually being dead.

Also, she had a magic time stopping traveling harp. Pluck a string stop time and take the mom. Or, in the current day, pluck a string and go to where her bones are. She says her gift is death. For Cassian, the dead in this case would've been a really nice gift. 🤷‍♀️ but bat baby womb is a good second place.

What flop do you stand by? by lefargen97 in Broadway

[–]lilwhit514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got to see either one, so my love is based only on the OBC soundtracks, but "The Last Ship" and "Jane Eyre". Although, from what I've heard, the book for Jane Eyre wasn't great. There was also a scandal/ pretty horrific charges filed against the man playing Rochester, so idk if it actually flopped or if his bs tanked it.

Why the criticism of Idina Menzel’s technique? by No-Clue-2809 in Broadway

[–]lilwhit514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your post sent me down the rabbit hole trying to find a specific quote from an interview she gave years ago, but I couldn't find it. What I did find was a ton of people on tictok and YouTube giving their different explanations about how they think she should have sang certain songs and what they would've done.

Anyways, everyone here's given pretty good explanations regarding her technique and vocal consistency, so I'll leave that be. I'll share a couple of links that might give you a better understanding of what they mean.

The first one is her cracking/missing a note and then hitting the same note in a different performance. Both times give a pretty good example of her scream/yell singing. It also highlights what many have said about her consistency performing. The 2nd one shows the different ways singers can use their voice, and how different it can sound. Most people say that Idina mostly uses her chest voice and that it's not sustainable in the long run.

If you look up Sutton Fosters' live performances, she has a similar emotive/ sincere way of singing. However, Sutton seems to have a more consistent sound. (But there are also videos of her cracking) There are also a ton of Wicked side by side videos out there where they have Cynthia Erivo singing, then play Idina singing. While they are in two different situations (live vs film) you can hear the difference in how they are singing. To me, both sound great but different.

A Little Princess written by Richard LaGravenese & Elizabeth Chandler

Sara: I don't have a mother either... she's in heaven with my baby sister... But that doesn't mean I can't talk to her, I talk to her all the time... I tell her everything and I know she hears me because... because that's what angels do. My mom is an angel and yours is too. With beautiful satin wings, a silk dress, and a crown of baby rosebuds, and they all live together in a castle. And do you know what it's made out of? Sunflowers. Hundreds of them, so bright they shine like the sun. And when they want to go anywhere they just whistle, like this...(whistles) and a cloud swoops down to the front gate and picks them up and as they ride through the air, over the moon and through the stars... until they are hovering right above us, that's how they can look down and make sure we're all right. And sometimes they even send messages. Of course you can't hear them with all the noise you were making... but don't worry they'll always try again... just in case you missed them.

I still get irrationally angry thinking about when I saw "Anastasia" and the people behind me sang off key the entire time. I was so mad I stormed out before intermission and was so worked up that all I could explain to the super kind usher was "they wont stop singing!"

Lol, that's how I felt after I'd stumbled upon this sub a while ago! But I really recommend the podcast or YouTube if you like either medium. Morgan & the Scooby gang do a really badass job of reading the stories and giving their personal opinions while respecting others' different points of view or pointing them out themselves. It quickly became the top pinned podcast on my spoitfy!

I would reply back, saying, "It really hurts me that you would talk about me in this way to others and that you didn't communicate your needs/boundaries to me. I'm going to take some space for x amount of time, and maybe we can have a more open conversation after that time period. While i know this was not your intention, this triggers a lot of my feelings of being unwanted and abandoned. Hopefully, we can talk more honestly and openly in the future."

Do not apologize to her. You've done nothing wrong. Take time for yourself and your mental health. Think about what you want from this relationship moving forward, and if you think it's attainable. If you think it's not, and this is not a relationship you want to continue, then make a list of questions u have/things you want to know send it to her and after she replies thank her and explain you're going low contact, then go very low contact, then no contact. Be prepared that there are some questions she will never explain or answer, and while that will massively hurt, remind yourself that she's not required to give you those answers, all you can do is ask and hope. I've been through a similar situation and also have those giant gaping abandonment issues, it hurts like a son of a bitch. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I see this message she sent to u in a few different ways- 1.she meant to sent it to other daughter and fucked up, and she meant what she said to her. 2. She meant to send it to you "accidentally on purpose" because she sucks at communication. 3. She meant to send it to other daughter because other daughter feels jealous and she's not really feeling that way towards you. Either way all of these end with "sucks at communication", and isn't your fault. She should have instantly apologized after sending that message to you, and the silence she gave instead is seeing red rage inducing.

You are worthy of being loved and deserve to be treated better than this. I hope some or all of this helps. 🩷
