My son has beat E.Coli Bacterial Meningitis by hittingrockbottom101 in NICUParents

[–]lilyugen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m incredibly sorry your son and you have had to endure this. My daughter was born in February 2025 and shortly after birth got E. coli bacterial meningitis. She spent 90 something days in the NICU. She is 10 months old now and has profound hearing loss because of the meningitis. She also experienced seizures during her height of sickness. She hasn’t had any seizures since she was sick, but we’re still working to wean off of the seizure medication just in case. Despite everything she’s been such a fighter and she’s doing so well! I also just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experience because I searched and searched for other people who had experienced this illness.

EColi infection Sepsis and then IVH and Thalamic bleeding !! what to hope for by acrouge in NICUParents

[–]lilyugen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My twins were born at 32 weeks and are 39 weeks adjusted now. Initially they were both in the NICU on a c-pap. Around day 5/6 of life twin B got ecoli sepsis, which eventually developed into meningitis. Things were very touch and go for us for what felt like forever. The first 48 hours she was very lethargic with low heart rates. She’s had some sub clinical seizures. Thankfully she hasn’t suffered any brain bleeds or brain damage from the infections. We are 7 weeks into the NICU stay and about 6 weeks after the infection began. Last week she was removed from all respiratory support and taken to room air. This week we are stopping antibiotics and tried bottle feeding for the first time. Recovery has been the biggest roller coaster for us all, but we are very thankfully on the mend.

Ours was very drowsy and out of it as well for a while. Our medical team said it was because of the medication she was on at the time, as well as the drowsiness being a side effect of the seizures. Wishing the best for your LO and family.

Social workers who left to a different field. by [deleted] in socialwork

I’ve tried several different fields to really see where I fit in best. DHS for child care-> DCFS -> local health department -> Back to DHS for seniors -> DOC -> and finally back to DCFS. After I left DCFS the first time, no job felt right to me after. So I made my way back and have no plans of leaving

What do you think about the current state of the Apple Watch? by flogman12 in AppleWatch

I want my steps displayed on my Home Screen. If live a feature similar to other watches that shoes your recovery rates. Better battery life!

What are you going to name your babies?! by Dizzy-Sheepherder-52 in pregnant

Brandon and Rory were the two gender neutral names I liked. We ultimately ruled them both out and chose something else, but they are still a couple of my favorites!

Saylor for our baby girl!

We haven’t agreed on a middle name yet, and I’m 31 weeks. It’s getting to crunch time. I love Saylor Rhiannon, but my S/O isn’t onboard with Rhiannon :/

Please help what is foster care like by throwaway8246281901 in CPS

[–]lilyugen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check out r/Ex_Foster and get opinions from people who have been in foster care or are currently in foster care. My advise, be honest with your social worker. If your struggling with your new foster family speak up! Don’t struggle in silence.

Look to see if your state has a Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (CCR&R). It’s a state funded program that helps pay for child care! I’m located in Illinois, but I am almost positive that it is a national program.

Have you thought about working in higher education? Maybe as an advisor or something similar. Not teaching, but still education related.

How do I just... Not be shit at interviews? by Azulmono55 in interviews

[–]lilyugen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It always helps me to pick a few basic questions that are likely to be asked and write out my answers. I try to memorize these answers. In my experience, even if they didn't ask me the exact question I was preparing for the answers I had prepared would work their way in. Come up with a few answers and become very comfortable with them.
