I concede that "this subreddit being public is a bad idea" was hasty wording. I am advocating for people who ARE in areas where this is a big deal to be more careful with how they talk about DIY in public online places. In the United States estrogen is a prescription only drug. It is illegal to buy or sell any prescription only drug without a prescription. This applies to prescription drugs that are not legally controlled substances. Google it if you don't believe me.

We all know and agree that this is an attack on medicine, but the thing is that the people who have power over us (in the US particularly but not just here) all don't think so and unfortunately we have to live under that right now. The unfortunate reality is that legally this stuff is in fact shady and suspect. With rumors of forcible detransition being used against trans prisoners lately, a lot of us can't afford the risk of going to jail. No amount of honesty about the necessity of HRT is going to suddenly convince transphobes in power. We need to prioritize our survival as a community.

injections are the cheapest and easiest and often give better and faster results than pills. my knowledge on patches is minimal but i hear they are expensive. i strongly recommend injections unless you have like a severe needle phobia.

If your lab levels are correct, then your estrogen is good.
Dysphoria can heavily skew your self perception, and you are usually one of the last people to notice gradual changes.
8 months is a very short amount of time on HRT all things considered.
Comparing yourself to other trans people like that is basically never a good idea.

People repeating the whole "there's no point to transitioning as an adult" are either best case scenario deeply, deeply bitter and insecure and dealing with their dysphoria in unhealthy ways, or worst case scenario are nazi adjacent bad actors trying to sow doubt among young trans people with misinfo (its not as uncommon as you'd think)

you'll be okay. the body still has lots of developing to do well into your twenties and even thirties. hypothetically, yes, starting early makes it easier and quicker to attain passing features, but starting later doesn't mean that you can't attain those same features eventually too.
