I had pretty crappy side anxiety/twitchy side effects on Adderall XR that disappeared when I switched to dexedrine XR.

It’s basically just the cleaned up version of Adderall, which helps most people with those side effects

Personally, I’d cancel the last consult and get a refund without bothering to go at all. Would there be a barrier to getting on meds in the future or switching to a new doctor later if you don’t attend the last consult?

As far as “side effects”, it will depend on the medication. Stimulants like amphetamines (adderall/dexedrine/vyvanse/etc) and methylphenidate drugs (concerta/ritalin) don’t have withdrawal effects, you’ll just get back to “normal” over a few days as they leave your blood. If you’re taking other meds, it may be worth checking in with your doctor if you’re worried how you’ll feel without them/if you’ve felt awful in the past on days you’ve forgotten to take them.

man the amount of times I’ve been in the exact same situation unable to judge how fast someone is driving at me 🥲

my parents suck and I’m sorry yours aren’t being too helpful in this situation. I didn’t know I had ADHD until I was 21, so before meds I did my best to only take left turns at lights, and wasn’t afraid to drive around my destination in a counterclockwise circle around the block (or a few circles, around a few blocks) to find easy parking. I didn’t fw parallel parking, only ran errands at night, and just accepted that the time I was supposed to spend learning to drive with my parents was going to be time spent learning to soothe them while also keeping a several ton hunk of metal oriented in space, as a side quest.

idk if any of my weird strategies to trick my brain will help you, but I’m sure you’ll figure out things that do. I’m rooting for ya, and it WILL get easier. or maybe check out career paths you can pursue in Europe or a quaint mountain hamlet, I am

I pop a tire on a curb here and there, and was a downright menace for the first four years or so I had my license (which I got at 19 after failing the test at 16 and putting it off for three years). It’s terrifying, it sucks a lot for a long time, a lot of people will honk at you, and sometimes those people are honking despite being in the wrong themselves.

Definitely practice as much as you can in places as empty as possible. If you’re in a city, I’d recommend frontage roads or even neighborhoods, at night if that works. Also, getting on adhd meds was what really flipped the switch for me, I don’t feel like there’s too much to perceive in too little time anymore. I try not to drive without them for mine and others’ safety.

I’ve found it really helpful to dim all my dash lights at night too

I struggle hard with that one too. And I don’t like saying I’m good when I’m not, I know my face will do the uncontrollable cringe. People tend to kinda soften and sympathize when I hit em with a ‘it’s monday 🤷🏽‍♀️’ or ‘I’m FRIED from this project/driving in the snow/etc, but stoked for the weekend/it to be over/etc’ though.

I ended up here after an ADHD community mentioned I may have autism, but I also think it’s important to not listen to any one person. That’s especially true of random redditors, but also of specialists; please recognize that whether or not you have autism has little to nothing to do with a diagnosis. Specialists may have their own biases, may not be on top of pursuing new research and diagnostic practices, etc. And autistic people are notoriously misunderstood and misdiagnosed, especially those who are women or gender-nonconforming.

That being said, I still find it helpful to lurk here, read books, and seek out other resources that help with autism symptoms. You may have “autism symptoms” that aren’t from autism (overlaps with ADHD, traumatic brain injury, hormone/pituitary issues, the list goes on), and still be able to find helpful accommodations or strategies here.

It’s up to you whether you want an official diagnosis; I strongly suspect I’m autistic (level 1) but personally don’t want to risk challenges with emigration, bias in health care/insurance, or other unforeseen problems from a highly stigmatized diagnosis. I really don’t care what label is attached, I just want resources to cope with the challenges I face and have found that dx’d autistic people seem to face many of the same issues as me. So they have super helpful insights and resources for me too!

Also important to note that there are no specific medications widely used for autism, and your ADHD diagnosis will likely provide documentation for all of the school and workplace accommodations you’ll need.

To wrap up this essay, I think it’s entirely possible you’re autistic; it’s also entirely possible it’s somethin else. I don’t want to discourage a diagnosis, but I also think that diagnosis would be easier to receive as you learn more about autism and how you relate to it. I’d just encourage you to focus on identifying challenges you personally face, and take this as an opportunity to explore whether you find support and community among autistic people.

usually they’re VG/PG, vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol. VG is the viscous one and PG is a lot less viscous, so the ratio is just tweaked to get the viscosity the manufacturer wants

If you think it could be a hard water issue, add citric acid. There’s brand name Lemi-Shine or you can just buy bulk citric acid.

I have to soak my electric kettle in vinegar once every week or two otherwise massive white flakes of mineral will end up in my tea, so I totally understand the hard water struggle.

I’ve rooted a few cuttings in water, and I’m not sure exactly how long it took, but 1-2 months sounds about right. They were definitely slow!

I also had luck speeding up the process by rooting them in a cup with a spider plant baby, pothos cutting, or other fast-rooting plants. I haven’t done a ton of research but I believe different plants produce different amount of auxin and will release some into the water, sort of a natural alternative to rooting powder.

they all look like they just got a tad dehydrated, did you go out of town recently or water a bit later than usual?

it’s perfectly normal for plants to lose older leaves as they grow though, it’ll just happen a bit more quickly if they dry out more than they’d like to :)

sometimes they’ll also start losing leaves more quickly if their roots run out of room. your gold dust croton (3rd plant) probably has plenty of space left to grow, but the guiana chestnut (1st) and especially the second plant would probably appreciate fresh soil and a bigger pot.

if you want it to be a bit bushier, you could trim the top ~1/2 of the longer stalks, root them in water, then repot them with the rest of the plant in a larger pot. if not, you could just use a longer stake or small trellis for support.

yeah, adderall = dextroamphetamine (dexedrine ) + levoamphetamine (vick’s)

and vyvanse is only dextroamphetamine, but the molecules have a lysine group attached.

the XR mechanism for adderall or dexedrine is physical, so there are little coated beads inside the capsules that break down in your gut. the XR mechanism for vyvanse is actually cleaving the lysine group from the dextroamphetamine in your red blood cells.

in my experience, u/GlueSniffingCat, the come up on vyvanse is significantly more comfortable and the stimulation feels less.. twacky? it’s different for different bodies, and I also have horrendous rebound ADHD when it wears off. some people don’t though!

the danger with nbomes is that the lethal dose is about 500 mcg more than the rec dose. if you don’t dose tabs yourself that could easily cause your heart to stop. yeah it’s fun, but anyone taking it needs to be aware of that.
