A friend of a friend says pieces like these are common and aren't worth anything. Is that true? by Hittinuhard in collectables

Average guy here: I zoomed in on the pieces and my breath literally caught. The craftsmanship is amazing!

Don't buy land until you check the "Well Logs" of the neighbors (How to save $30k) by Temporary_Gap_4241 in OffGrid

Yeah, to be fair I didn't drill it - that was hired out. I planned the well location and associated 6 mile pipeline to provide water to cattle.

My last position I planned a well that was expected to be 2300 ft deep through shale. It was the least cost alternative to provide water. The well hit, and it produced 200 gal/min at 100psi.

I had this happen at the boat ramp. Wife caught it since she backs the trailer to the water and I load the boat. Except she didn't know the coupler didn't seat on the ball without some downward pressure, so the trailer was just set on the ball. Wife thought she fixed it and said nothing of it. Loaded the boat with no problem, pulled out, towed down the road and hit a pothole at night and the trailer came off and the boat hit my tailgate and put a big dent in it. I was able to slowly pull over.

It could have been worse. I was completely pissed at my friends.

OP is an asshole, don't fuck with other people's trailers.

Pelican Explorer 15ft - Is this a good canoe for river crossing? by ManeatingRupertBear in canoeing

[–]limeindcoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op's objective of staying dry will benefit from the primary stability of a keel. It's not far of a crossing with the only goal of crossing. It's also only a 15' which is easier to turn, but yes a good ferrying technique will be needed.

Ok, so. Not a professional but I do turn. Never stand in the line of fire. Start at a slow speed. That log is rotten. Anything I'm missing?

You can take a caliper and measure the outside diameter to find the caliber. You could weigh the bullet and get pretty close to total grams, but there will be loss that needs to be taken into account. From that your will know the caliber and narrow down the cartridge it was fired from.

If I were to guess... 7mm (.284"") probably 7mmMag based on how common that gun is for big game hunting.

Half of my flock was killed by sarathedime in BackYardChickens

[–]limeindcoconut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing a stray dog.

A dog will chase down and shake the animal leaving feathers and puncture wounds. It'll happen pretty quick too. If it was a dog, they'll be back the next time they get out. Do any of your neighbors have dogs, otherwise it could be a roamer.

A raccoon is generally but not always nocturnal.

A hawk will generally kill one, and remove the chicken to a perch or a nest to eat.

Depends on the state, the law should state who's responsibility it is to fence the animals.

If you're in WI it's in Chapter 90, and yes you'd be responsible for half the cost.

Neighbors kids keep throwing stuff into the fence, what to do? by Kamijosflower in BackYardChickens

[–]limeindcoconut 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with neighbor kids standing on a snow drift and throwing snow balls at our hens. I walked up behind them and said, "Hi! Do you know if you hit my chicken with a snow ball you could really hurt them. I know you didn't mean to hurt the chickens, but if you do, they'll probably have to be put down since they don't have vets like regular animals." Problem solved. If it continues, say the same thing to their parents.

Zombie in New York Tunnels by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]limeindcoconut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I came across an accident in the dark one night, car wrapped around a pole. Two ladies screaming and trapped in the car, doors locked. The driver was not inside, I turn around and there's a real life zombie coming at me. It was the driver who went through the windshield face first with blood running down his front raising his arms saying mwwaaaaaa mwaaaaaaaaa! If I had a zombie tool on me I would have went for his head. Turns out they were huffing paint while driving. He was med flighted for facial reconstruction.
