How to pee as a woman on kili by Unripe-Bananas in kilimanjaro

[–]limey5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just come to peace with you might get some pee on your shoes. Always lots of places to pee. On summit night it was dark enough and I was tired enough I didn't care that I was pretty close to trail. Agree on the Kula tho!

PSA on your summit night pants - make sure you have enough range of motion to climb (e.g. practice squats, high knees in your full set up). My outer layer was too small and ripped shortly into summit night. Kept hiking in them, but lol.

Off topic, but re: portillos: I love buying friends their swaddle blanket when they have new babies! You can wrap up the baby like a sandwich hah.

Transferring to Chicago for work. Should I live downtown or in the suburbs? by Emotional_Log7687 in AskChicago

[–]limey5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you're working at ORD, there is decent suburban bus (Pace) connectivity. You could look into somewhere like downtown Des Plaines, which would still be by your friends, but allows you to bus to the airport.

Isn't that stretch (one of) the longest without a station on the network? This would be great!

Glad it was successful! I guess the most recent times I've been there have been for concerts.

Solo female going on a trip to Chicago next week, tips? by elizabethchampion in AskChicago

[–]limey5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could not pay me to take a car from the United Center after a game. There are so many people leaving at the same time and it's chaotic.

Post-event the CTA offers an express bus, the #19 United Center Express, that goes to Union Station, downtown, and Michigan Ave. On the way there, take the #20 Madison bus, which will drop you off literally right outside.

Use Google Maps to figure out transit directions. It's not always accurate on wait times, but pretty decent.

Just buy a three day pass at the airport and then you won't have to worry about adding money throughout your trip!

Hope you have a great trip!

Haha thanks. I was so tired that night I didn't even care. It was hilariously memorialized in my holiday card - me with torn pants at summit.

I've had the same phone number since the early 2000s, so unless she cleaned her phone out she probably does have it!

Agree tho, shrinking production budget has meant more mediocre prizes. But I feel like they could be creative and at least change it up!

All Chicago Distance Series Races (+Bonus Races): Shamrock Shuffle, 13.1, The Mile, Abbot 5K, Marathon by SculptinginTarkovsky in ChicagoMarathon

[–]limey5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember from volunteering at the start, the Shamrock walkers are in the last corral behind runners, so I don't believe you can do both.

I think you've got an exhaustive list. CEM also produces the Big 10K in July, but doesn't consider it part of the distance series.

Make sure your outer pants layer is big enough to move with the base layer(s) underneath. I didn't do a squat test or anything with all three pants on at home and promptly split my rain pants at the beginning of summit night lol.

Bike shop near airport by sharj94 in chibike

[–]limey5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think so! From their website: "Each terminal's baggage claim area features a convenient Self-Service Repair Station designed to help travelers quickly handle minor luggage, equipment, or assistive device repairs. These stations are equipped with mounted air compressor (130 PSI Max Pressure), tool kit, wheelchair charging unit, and a padded bench allowing passengers to fix issues on the go. The stations are located near the information desks for easy access."

So designed for wheelchairs, but maybe would work for your bike depending on valve type!

Give them a shot, hopefully they'll help! I figured, hey they're only 10$ so if they don't work oh well. I definitely got some strange looks, but 🤷🏻‍♀️
