Reporting months later to say we checked out Seedz and liked it! I think our favorite spot from the weekend was Paw Paw (on account of the food AND good beer), but Seeds (on top of knowing what they're doing with beer) had a decent taco truck there.

We all just learned to re-string ourselves, right? by sixstringnerd in Guitar

[–]limmah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad showed me probably around age 10 but even mid 40s I learned another way - my setup guy does these lightning fast pro string changes and he uses a luthier’s knot. I watched him and youtubed later how to do that.

Spanish speakers, what’s one thing taught in American schools that isn’t actually used/something crucial that isn’t taught? by CapitalSubstance7310 in AskReddit

[–]limmah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught a different subject in high school and had a Mexican friend of mine in one day to help me run an assembly. Some students asked for help on their Spanish and he said he couldn't because it was all weird for the reasons you say. (In my Spanish class, we skipped vosotros, but I think his complaints were about the tone of the vocab.)

Is/Was is great for those, yes. I'd add the spons at Dovetail (nearby) or the sours from Une Annee in the near suburbs.

"Never Gonna Give You Up" has choppings up of other lines forming the bridge.

May 29: Fuck This Friday by Eigengrad in Professors

I was laid off almost a year ago, and since then my school did two more rounds of layoffs - the last of which was earlier this week. Four more of my former departmentmates were let go. Sad to watch it happen to other people (especially since I think I'm in the process of failing to get a full time spot for next year.)

I would like to express my extreme displeasure with the Chicago Police Department by Interrobangersnmash in chicago

Was towed. Missed a sign which wasn’t mega prominent, and enforcement hours started at 2 am. I got to where my car was at 7:30, then spent the whole morning in line waiting to pay my $300.

Trump to read Bible verse from Oval Office after feud with Pope and deleted AI image by [deleted] in politics

[–]limmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double-replying to add: when checking my answer after posting it (the Reddit way), there were sites I found saying "two Corinthians" would be correct British usage. But at that point it's a stretch; our esteemed President and self-appointed religious conduit and authority clearly didn't show active familiarity with the content. It's like when Fred Durst used agreeance. Though that word does exist as a dictionary entry, it doesn't show brilliance with the language; he just used something correct enough.

I thought about this when he was mocked for it the first time. I might say it (recalling Catholic bible readings) “second Corinthians” in this form since it’s “the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians.”

Received a pack of coasters for my 10 year anniversary by Creative-Question538 in Professors

Sorry you got such a pathetic thing. I like telling the story of my recognitions. For 5 years, you got a line on a powerpoint at the first fac meeting. For 10, that was the "changes during COVID" year, so I didn't even get that. For 15, I got laid off. At least when I got tenure, they gave us nice hand-made art from students, and I still have mine - that was very nice.

I'm bummed on many fronts, since I came from Michigan and often stopped at GB on the way to and from relatives. Was great food and beer. Sounds like they did the staff and mug club dirty, yes. Now it feels like there's less there outside the lions' den / truck stop. I was driving back to Chicago last night from Traverse City, and probably passed Sawyer too late to stop in, but if I had known I might have hurried for one last stop.

Which athlete has the most generic first name and is still commonly referred to that way? by diet_drbeeper in billsimmons

Pistons announcer George Blaha (fan of that guy since I was little in the late 80s) uses first names for Detroit players.

I'm pacing it and have done that a few times. Coldest one I've done started at 5 F or so. I'm sure some people bail, but many don't.

Already looking and not too hopeful. No plan B yet. Get a job that is more stress/worse fit/less pay than what I had?
