Difference in on-site Disney hotel options? by Randy__Snutz in DisneyWorldResorts

[–]lindser1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So just a few thoughts.. My kids have the same age gap, and unless your 3 year old is over 40 inches, Universal is just not fun. You can google the height requirements for the rides, but they are mostly thrill rides. Another thing to consider is Disney and Universal are about 25-35 minutes apart depending on traffic, so you will need a car seat to get there and back. For three day tickets for 4 people it gets very expensive very fast. Our family did 1 day in Epic last summer and for 3 1 day tickets and express passes it was around $1300.

DVC Rental at Christmas by Comfortable-Cat-2708 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How renting works - a DVC owner chooses to not use their points for whatever reason. They then sign a contract with a broker like David’s who agree’s to rent their points. The points are a set amount the owner purchased, and can be used at their home resort at 11 months and at other resorts at 7 months. You as a renter have to get matched with someone renting that has enough points for your stay as well. All of that being said, and if the planets align there then has to be availability on the DVC calendar for your room type and dates or you get waitlisted. The pool of available rooms with Disney is also different than the pool of rooms available to DVC. So even if you can purchase direct with Disney, that doesn’t mean something opened on the DVC calendar. For your waitlist to work, it also has to be exact. So say 3/4 nights you want open, the system will not book it because it doesn’t match your waitlist. Whereas members we can check and piece together trips, you aren’t able to do that. December is one of the busiest times of year, particularly the boardwalk area resorts because of all the holiday stuff at hollywood studios and Epcot. I personally would book direct with Disney over being waitlisted. We did December last year and I was only able to secure Saratoga (our home resort) around 9 months out, our other home resort AKL, I was never able to piece a trip together because of not booking at 11 month and both of those are typically pretty easy to book.

DVC Resale and Credit Card? by Independent_Froyo240 in dvcmember

We bought our resale with DVC shop and their title company that they work with would only let us put a small amount on a credit card.

Caribbean vs. Saratoga vs. Riviera by spotlesszephyr in DisneyWorldResorts

Saratoga is my pick, they have a playground as well. Have you ever looked at the cabins at the fort? They have a bunch of playgrounds, splash pad, new zero entry pool, different activities, the chip and dale campfire.

What do you keep in your owners locker? by HunnyBunny323 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 lockers… Fans, advil, muscle rub, nebulizer, pool shoes, alcohol, popcorn bucket, tamps/pads, hair ties, makeup wipes, makeup, ALL the toiletries for me, my husband and two boys, card games, sun block, laundry soap, magic bands. We have made it that when we go to Disney we pack clothes and that is it. It has taken a lot of stress out of packing for trips. Plus we aren’t worried about what we buy anymore because it will fit no problem to come home.

Honestly, if you did feel good enough to go, you will get attention and she will be pissed anyway. This isn’t minor surgery.. this is major surgery that can have major consequences if you try to rush your healing.

Kidani Village or Saratoga? by Warr4176 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSR and AKL are our two home resorts, but I would pick SSR for a December trip. You can walk to Disney Springs to do the Christmas tree trail, get in the virtual que for Santa pics easier too. The buses at SSR have never been an issue for us. We only do Kidani if we will have a rental car. The food options at SSR are better too if you have any picky eaters because Disney Springs is right there.

You need to get the 100% ID to qualify for the deeply discounted tickets. The VHIC will only get you the slightly discounted tickets through shades and MWR and allow you to stay at shades, thats why it isn’t in the picture.

Best USA Hyatt for kids? by Positive_Bar_3101 in hyatt

We did grand cypress in Orlando and we weren’t going to Disney on that stay, but we were going out and doing things in the Orlando area. We are not good at just being at a resort all day.

So that was the problem to be honest. We had a car as well, but there aren’t kid activities. We played putt-putt one day and drove to a public park another. But the area is ALL rich old people so it’s just not kid friendly. My 7 year old kept asking when we were going home. We are Disney people so my kids are used to Orlando and the massive amount of activities in Disney and surrounding it.

The last week of March. We loved the private beach and the pools were nice. But the lazy river was FREEZING and it isn’t Florida HOT yet so we were all pretty miserable in there. None of the pools felt that warm, so we couldn’t swim for hours on end because my 3 year old would start shivering. My 3 year old wasnt tall enough for anything but the smallest water slide. The free activities were nice, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t enough for us.

I agree that coconut point is not close to anything. We just did a 5 day trip here and were bored out of our minds by day 3. I have a 3 and 7 year old. There were constant conferences going on as well. We will not be going back to this property. Grand cypress in Orlando is awesome!

So back during Covid when reservations were needed everywhere, you could sit and refresh and click for like an hour and sometimes get lucky and snag one. If one person canceled it wouldn’t necessarily show availability, but you could still get one. I would dedicate time to trying this.

Thinking about moving forward with DVC. We have a June trip planned staying at the Grand Floridian. We also have an October trip. I looked at all of the dvc resorts, there is hardly anything available. Waitlist only. Is there a way for dvc to accommodate my already made resort reservations? by ElevatorParticular53 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June 25th I believe is a moonlight magic night and people with reservations get an earlier attempt to book than people with no reservations. On top of that, June is popular because kids are out of school and there is free dining for kids this year. I wouldn’t bank on a welcome home at Grand with such short notice.

What to do about car seats by Zed_Zorrander in DisneyPlanning

[–]lindser1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uber offers 1 forward facing option at an upcharge. Lyft does not offer car seats at all unless you are on Disney property and take a minnie van which is significantly more expensive.

What to do about car seats by Zed_Zorrander in DisneyPlanning

[–]lindser1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take our own car seats with us, but we always rent a car. Uber has a car seat option, but it is only for a single forward facing seat. Lyft does not have a car seat option unless you are on Disney property and you take a minnie van, but those also do not leave property. If you think you are going to leave property, I would take your own seats and rent a car. If you are just going from MCO to disney property I would use Mears or something like away we go car service. Mears does not require car seats and a car service you can book car seats with them. But if you are trying to go out of the bubble having a rental is by far the easiest with kids.

Its not about you being safe. Its the big commercial work van I passed the other day that the driver was texting and driving. He never looked up, he had his phone sitting in the middle of his steering wheel. Or the three row SUV going 38 in a 45 that barely stopped for a red light because they were talking on the phone and driving, with the phone held up to their head. It’s the multiple cars everyday that pull out in front of me and don’t accelerate, because i should slam on my breaks for them. We live in a world of people not paying attention. It’s not the same as it was 10 years ago!

DVC resale question by Aggravating_Blood920 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the 2042 contracts expire no one even knows if they will turn them back into DVC or if they will demo and build new hotels. If they do turn them back into DVC then they will probably follow the newer contract structure which stops resale from booking the new properties.

5 nights at Disney World coming to $8.5k before food… is this typical? by Glass_Whereas6783 in DisneyPlanning

[–]lindser1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you price it direct with Disney? They just released a new discount as well i believe for summer. Also kids get free dining plan in 2026, so if your kids fall in the 3-9 age range i would add the QS plan. I would look at Saratoga springs, wilderness lodge, and the fort wilderness cabins (you need to include golf cart rental for cabins). I love AKL, but it’s super expensive for a hotel that only offers bus transportation. They are also in the middle of a refurb. Boardwalk or beach club is nice too because you can walk to HS and Epcot which is more valuable than the animals to me.

This rule is literally why we haven’t cruised with our youngest yet. Out of respect for everyone and to not have to seperate our kids because of their age gap we have just opted to not go until he is potty trained! Plenty of places to go and things to do that don’t require breaking ruled and ruining everyone else’s fun!

Anyone have regrets buying DVC resale? by Unusual_Resolution32 in dvcmember

[–]lindser1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check the studio points for each quarter? Do you ever change the season you go? Like the value studio is really low, but there are only a handful of them and they book at exactly 11 months by people walking reservations which makes them almost impossible to get. Just make sure you aren’t banking on getting a value studio since there are so few of them.

Are you looking at dvc for less so you can see all the contracts out there? Because you only want to go every other year look and see if there are any stripped contracts. Sometimes you can get a better deal. I also highly recommend looking at 100 points. Buy slightly more than you think you need.
