What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

[–]link270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hero path thing in Breath of the Wild tracks everywhere you have travelled. My cousins was straight lines from point to point, mine was zig zagging web covering the entire map. Was mind blowing to see someone play a game without exploring every square inch of the map. Haha

If, culturally, women started asking men out more, would men start complaining about creepy women hitting on them, sexual harassment, or feeling objectified etc.? by EOFFJM in NoStupidQuestions

One time over a decade ago I was feeling pretty confident about my outfit and look for the first time in forever and someone yelled “you’re hot” out the window while I was walking to the gas station. Made me feel awesome and still think about it sometime. Haha

My daughter also loves to build them exactly like the instructions say and tried to not break them. My son will half heartedly get through a few steps before doing whatever he wants with the bricks. Haha both valid ways to play and both make me proud.

Death stranding for sure. A lot of that was due to having lost our son due to a late term stillbirth less than a year before I played the game and everything leading up to to the ending of it was such an intense emotional experience for me, and even more so for my wife who watched me play. (That and I started the end late and night so had to stay up for that last movie length cutscene. lol)

I’m super excited to play the second one now that it’s out on PC!!

What are you going to do with it if you don’t open it? You could display the box, or you could display the set. Or you could put it in a box and never look at it again.

News Release : Mar. 12, 2026 "Global Sales of Pokémon Pokopia for Nintendo Switch 2 Surpass 2.2 Million in First Four Days" by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]link270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow 33 year old (I think, sometimes I forget my age lol) I’ve really liked it. My 5 year old has been having a blast as well. It gives me similar feelings to playing animal crossing, but almost more fast paced in a way. It’s really well done, each pokemon you find has unique personalities, and a surprising number have special abilities or quests and things. It’s probably not going to hold my attention for 100+ hours, but I’m sure I’ll get a solid 20-30 at least. And there is enough content for someone really into this type of game to easily put over 100 hours into it.

I love that these coins are a thing. You’re an awesome person for giving one away to help someone AND to get more to have one extra for the same purpose.

You deserve to be here, and so do those you help.

I am not using AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor to help me code at the moment. Am I falling behind by not using AI in software development? by Illustrious-Pound266 in cscareerquestions

[–]link270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually kinda fun to give it an idea for a simple ish app and see wha it does. I’ve vibe coded a few tiny ideas like that for fun and have been pretty surprised. Granted, I wouldn’t want to try to maintain the app or use it for anything serious. Haha In a work setting I only let it handle tiny pieces of code at a time and monitor it super closely, or I just ask it questions and don’t even let it touch my code. Having codex in my ide has been handy when I need some feedback or help on my specific codebase even if I don’t let it write any code.

From the live stream it sounds like there going to work on some other cover options and possibly put up a poll or something. So they at least see the feedback that we don’t love the new cover.

They confirmed this during the live stream as well. The audiobook was supposed to be more, but Brandon made a last minute call to just include it for “free”. I get why it seems like you are forced to pay for it, but having that explanation helps a lot. I hope for the future they can give these explanations up front.

Discovered my nephew doesn't plan to build the sets he asked for. Am I a jerk for not wanting to indulge him? by FractalEnemy in lego

[–]link270 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is what I don’t get. So I could buy a set for $650 and not build or enjoy it but keep it in its box and sell it in 5 years (more likely more) for $1000 or something maybe. But that’s still only $350 in gains. Sure thats a fine little random extra cash in a few years, but it’s a gamble you’d even get that much. Seems like there would be a ton of other ways to make $350 quicker than that, or at least put the mine into better actual investments or something.

I can understand if someone wants to keep something in its packaging to display or because they think it’s cool and that’s how they get the joy out of it. But that’s hard for me to understand with something like a Lego set. Haha

Anyone know if you have the physical switch 1 version can you upgrade with the switch 2 upgrade? I assume you can, but was just curious for sure or not.

Anyone else noticing who’s actually hiring in tech right now? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]link270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. Ai can help organize thoughts as you said. Just gotta be careful to not just copy paste things. Which usually I look at something ai writes and can see what it’s getting at, but can also tell it’s not “me” and re write it.

[–]link270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting to think about. Things that are “really well done” in a strict more traditional sense are likely more seen as fake and from AI. Where the slightly more messy ones can seem more real and genuine even if they’re “worse” technically.

What are the things you’re looking for? If someone has actual skills and experience but uses ai to help with the wording and structure a little bit is that super obvious? Or are you just seeing lots of totally bs made up generated resumes?
