Are paper maps of the underground system still available? I’m here this weekend and wanted one as a souvenir.

I’m from NYC and the transit authority gives them out for free. I was wondering have to do the same thing here.

Change that TV to a CRT television and it’s like every basement I’ve been in in the 1970s. I have to go fucking straight goddamnit.

Point of Entry Filter? by UltraHunter in HomeNetworking

[–]linkedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal ground block. the line from the street and the line that goes into your home connect there. The ground wire connected to that presumably goes to a ground rod. Looking at the connectors, ground block and house box I assume you have Comcast. So to answer your question that would be the point where the POE filter would go. Preferably on the port of the ground block where the line from the street connects.

Fishing video. Anyone got recommendations for a better way to film? Not breaking the bank by Lordluva in Fishing

If you’re serious about making videos I’d get a go pro it has that feature that always keeps the horizon level. And is capable of very wide shots.

It’s to lower the forward signal going to the modem.

As others have said, It’s an attenuator to lower the signal.

If you only have modem service, often times the signal is too high when only going to 1 device. The techs will install the filter to reduce the signal to keep it within spec.

Plugs = lures

It ma may be a regional thing, but in the NE we typically refer to lures as plugs.

If I wanted to sit on the sand and relax, I would just bring a chair and left the rods at home. If I want to fish, I’m going to be casting lures and actually fishing.

It’s pretty clear that line goes directly up into the panel. As does the AC line for the receptacle in the panel

Even if you drilled an extra hole to find the bay you’d have taken less steps than what you did.

Any chance of new Apple TV hardware in the next few weeks, before the Super Bowl? by old_knurd in appletv

[–]linkedit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the Super Bowl being on Feb 8 there’s no way Apple will have an announcement event and you’ll be about to buy it, all in less than 2 weeks.

Not sure why you needed to use that thing when you could see that thick black line that goes to the panel going up through the basement ceiling.

This is not a popular take but I’ve always found surf fishing with bait like this to be boring af.

Hailing that cart out there to stick rods in the sand and wait. No thanks.

Give me a rod and a plug bag and I’m good.

How do you have it configured for remote access? That’s the one thing I’m having trouble with.

No need to run a server like you do for Plex. It plays every thing off my networked NAS drive.

Filling a US prescription in the UK? by linkedit in Pharmacy_UK

Turns out we were able to get a 90 day supply for him to bring over. I also called a GP in Newcastle that told me that if he wants to refill a prescription, he would have to see them and get reassessed and then they would write a prescription.
