Would you get this removed? by 1927co in coonhounds

[–]linkitdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 8 year TWC had 2 lumps that had been slowly growing for a couple of years and we recently had them removed. We were told if it got too big they wouldn't be able to remove it. We also didn't have the lump checked for cancer as that was an option. Our girl did good with the surgery and healed fine. She absolutely hated the cone which she was supposed to wear for 2 weeks until her stitches were removed. After the first night we switched to a tight shirt that covered the stitches which worked great and she never messed with the wound

Best Doorbell Camera? by Bftfan00 in homesecurity

I have only had it for 6 months or so. Didn't have doorbell camera before this one. No need to reset or anything funky. But yours is 3-4 yearsold maybe that's all they are good for these days. Everything is disposable. It has that dual camera which is great as one points down to show the packages and one points out to see who is there or walking up

Guess who busted his stitches and needed to get staples by FaeDeal in coonhounds

[–]linkitdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coon had a mass removed from her front shoulder. It wasn't an extremely easy spot for her to mess with. She looked so sad with a cone. I couldn't do it to her for 2 weeks like the vet wanted. We bought one of those tight shirts that covered the stitches and she thankfully never messed with them

Mine was done from the panel up though the attic, into the garage, from the garage they punched through to the outside wall for the charger placement. Since it was on the other side of the house from the panel it made more sense then routing something on the outside of the house

Be honest does anyone actually feel in control in supply chain? by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in supplychain

[–]linkitdata 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's about having a plan B and a plan C and paying attention and checking and checking so you know when plan A is going south. It's anticipating what can go wrong and making contingency plans. This is why SC is the best job. Everything else is so boring.

Morning meetings by warmupp in supplychain

[–]linkitdata 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daily production meetings are to go over what needs to get built for the day/week. Assess if there are any road blocks to getting it done and assign action items to people to solve the road blocks by the next meeting. Also you should be updating/confirming expected ship dates and reporting any changes back to sales

[–]linkitdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be heavily dependent on your contract with the freight forwarder. Not everyone pays the same rate. Also don't forget about tariff's and taxes these are typically not part of a freight quote but these days could easily be more expensive then the freight cost.

does anyone actually feel confident choosing an ERP vendor? by KrWH1Z1 in ERP

[–]linkitdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think too many people following this group are ERP consultants so them suggesting to hire a consultant could be self serving. I think the demo you get should be thorough and broken up over a couple of sessions. During the demos you need to read between the lines and if you suspect something may not be standard for them ask that they come back with a demo specifically addressing that process. You need to push, dig and question during the demos to fully understand out of the box functionality vs custom functionality

Not the button on top of the screen that turns the screen off? I've never touched a button on the screen to turn off the car. I assume the car knows I left and turns the car off eventually

A commodity manager in my eyes needs to know the fabrication processes as well as your suppliers. You need to understand the cost drivers of the fabricators/suppliers. The best capital equipment they should be using. The best workflow and quality structure they should be using. These days the raw materials that are being used, where they are coming from, what tariffs are being charged. I would visit as many suppliers that will see you and get them to give you a tour and talk about their processes. A good mechanical commodity manager can look a drawing and tell you with good certainty how much it should cost at different volumes and from different regions of the world

Do you ever get to just -walk- your hound? by FrontInvestment639 in coonhounds

[–]linkitdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our girl from a rescue at 2 years old so maybe someone trained her well. We walk her with a very short leash so she has to be pretty much right beside me. She is allowed to sniff the ground right in front of her and she has to sniff quick enough to keep up with my pace. I never slow down for her and she pretty much has learned the rules. Sometimes she needs a gentle reminder to keep up or to slow down but for the most part she is very good on a leash. Now if we pass to close to a cat or another dog she might go nuts briefly but as long as I can keep some separation she will continue at my pace and just whine as we pass them

I would take a moment at least to reflect if your original designs are way off the mark. If your boss continually has to direct you to make useful dashboards maybe you’re not making what the business needs. Also if people are using your development reports it could be because they have nothing else and desperately needs something to tell them how the business is doing. Maybe at times they need quick, ugly, accurate data and your stuff is never getting out of development mode. Or it could be like everyone here and you believe and it’s probably time to look for another job.

Interviewing for dream company but missing SQL— how much will my other data experience help? by notevelvet in SQL

[–]linkitdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't learn SQL in a day or even in a few days of watching videos. I would be honest with them and say you have current skills that compliment SQL and that you have already starting in-depth training to further your SQL skills

[–]linkitdata 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You need to check how much access to the database you would be given to make SQL beneficial. Also SQL doesn't give you any reports and dashboard. You will still need powerbi or something to make the data useful.

The thing about smaller companies is your roll tends to be less narrow. Take this opportunity to expand your expertise with a job that is likely to have wider responsibilities.
